Customize Homebrew Launcher with your own music and sound effects

It's been possible for the longest time to customize Homebrew Launcher with your very own music and sound effects, just nobody seems to realize it! This isn't anything groundbreaking but it's a nice touch if you ever get tired of the default music and want to use your own song. Who wouldn't want to jam out to their favorite song! If you're fine with the default music, then this isn't for you.

Let's get started.

Replacing Homebrew Launcher's music

- You first need a .ogg music file. You can convert mp3 to ogg if you have to.

- Rename your .ogg file to bgMusic

- Now on your SD card browse to wiiu/apps/homebrew_launcher/

- Make a folder named resources

- Place your bgMusic.ogg file in the resources folder

This sould be ready to go, now you can test it out by simply booting into Homebrew Launcher.

Replacing the click sound in Homebrew Launcher

- You need a .mp3 file this time, a short 1 second sound effect

- Rename the .mp3 file to button_click

- On your SD card, browse to wiiu/apps/homebrew_launcher/resources/

- Place the button_click.mp3 file into the resources folder

Now you can test by clicking on things in Homebrew Launcher.

Optional: Using Dark Homebrew Launcher

There's a Dark Homebrew Launcher which has a black background and buttons. You can even rename dark homebrew launcher to just homebrew_launcher and replace your original homebrew launcher elf file. This won't apply to HBL Channel though.

Custom homebrew icons

You can also replace the icons to various homebrew apps with that of your own. Or you can use pre-made icons from HERE

- Save the icons you want from the thread linked above, they should be .png format

- Rename the .png icon file to icon

- Browse into the homebrew app it's designed for such as wiiu/apps/nnupatcher/

- Replace the icon.png file with your file

That should be it, they will appear differently in Homebrew Launcher now. You can even make your own custom icons easily.

Replacing the music in Appstore

You can also replace the music in Appstore with your own music. It's just as easy to replace.

- You'll need a .mp3 file

- Rename the .mp3 file to slimers

- On your SD card, browse to wiiu/apps/appstore/

- Make a folder named resources

- Place the slimers.mp3 file into the resources folder

Now test it out by going into Appstore, your music should be replaced with your own.

Changing Haxchi's icon and sound to Homebrew Launcher

For a long time now someone has made icons for haxchi that looks like Homebrew Launcher, as well as the original wii's Homebrew Channel music. Basically this makes your Haxchi look more like Homebrew Launcher rather than Haxchi. Here's a preview:

https://prnt.sc/gcocfa

This also comes with a music file to play the Wii's Homebrew Channel music as you launch Haxchi.

- Download the files HERE

- Extract the haxchi folder to the root of your SD card (Note: This comes with a config.txt)

- Boot up Homebrew Launcher and run the haxch installer (Note: if you have CBHC installed, uninstall CBHC FIRST)

- Reinstall haxchi and it will now replace the icons and sound of Haxchi

I think we need a boot1 exploit in order to have brick protection. on wii u brew, it details each exploit. supposedly, there is a boot 1 exploit, but it's not public.

That figures. I hate when they keep the good shit to themselves. No real reason to keep that kind of thing from everyone at this point. Kinda fucked up really

if u want to read up on the system vulnerabilities, check out this page: http://wiiubrew.org/wiki/Wii_U_System_Flaws
I can't really understand that technical mumbo jumbo all that well. I wish I could because if I found an exploit like that I would release it so everyone could benefit from it. I just don't know why the creator's of the exploit would keep it from everyone like that because, if I'm not mistaken, Boot1 requires a hardware revision to be fixed and can't be patched(feel free to correct me if I'm wrong). Nintendo won't do anything about it now.

Is it possible to edit the hbl CHANNEL boot music, from the new, simple tune to the classic "Bum, ba-dum, bumba dum?"
The channel, nope. Not unless you made the channel yourself which I do not know anything about. Whoever did make the HBL channel made it plain and boring with the boot sound.

Is there a channel editor out there?

Hmm. I was thinking about using some program to make a channel, and then tossing most of the guts of the hbl channel in, but I don't know what file stores bootsounds

@Xdqwerty No you heard wrong, and don't believe till you experience yourself. Fallout 4 is one of my favorite games of all time. Yes it had issues early on, esp with older hardware like the xbox1, but it is awesome, esp now being 4k on Series S/X or PS5

Yea you right there, fallout 76 was a letdown, but it not that bad now, they have fixed slot of issues they had at launch. Biggest issue with Fallout 76 is its a pay to advance further type of game, which sucks
