maybe a really silly question but after prodding about with this could we technically remove the updates from the iso's? i guess the updates would be stored on seperate partition of the games?
Plug the Wii U's drive into your computer with a custom SATA cable (you need to make this yourself), then you can dump Wii U disk.
We can open szs files with every file explorer right ? and view the models perhaps also?
Yes, they are the same AFAIK. Also, note that .szs is (almost always?) Yaz0 compressed SARC whereas .sarc is just the raw archive. A lot of this stuff is detailed at MK8.tockdom.comGericom is adding support for big-endian SARCs (which often have the extension: szs or sarc). I think - other than the endianness - they are the same (or very similar) to the SARCs used in 3DS games, which EFE has support for.
I think your answer is here: https://gbatemp.net/threads/wiiu-game-dumps-list-and-nfo.366269/page-24#post-5301465Are keys usually stored at a specific offset of the file to decrypt? How would I go about finding them manually?
I am trying to decrypt some dev files.
(Or does this only work with retail games?)

For those who wonder, spock cmd 0x09 key is used to decrypt UMD keys stored in idstorage, those keys are then used by spock cmd 0x08 to decrypt the UMD master key (per disc key) Then this key is used in spock cmd 0x0A to decrypt the UMD raw sectors. Each different psp regions seems to have its own sets of UMD keys.
We can't give direct links and you're really not supposed to ask for them. (forum rules)Sorry for the gravedig, but I'm new here and I'd like to create an OPEN SOURCE tool which does the same thing as DiscU. Is there any place to download ripped games online or am I going to have to rip them myself?

Ahh, thanks. Did not know that existed. I'm still interested in programming something though. Is there something I could make that currently doesn't exist that would be useful here?I doubt you'd wanna do it after checking out VGMToolBox's ISO extractor. It enables people to select files they want, rather than decrypting and dumping everything.

I'm having a hard time extracting two specific wud images with DiscU:
- Wii Fit U (USA) WUP-P-ASTE
- The LEGO Movie Videogame (EUR) WUP-P-ALAP
I'm using DiscU v2.1b - is there any newer version or am I doing something wrong?
Wii Fit U shows up in the Loadiine v1.0 compatibility sheet so I guess there is a way to decrypt/extract it.
