He's asking if he can download and extract the files for NSMBU, to which the answer is "yes". However, all links are dead so good luck actually finding a download.
I answered his questions correctly. He asked if someone could "use CDecrypt to download decrypted files from DLC or an eShop-only game" and if it was possible to "extract the files (e.g. models) from the ISO/disc-image after decrypting it."

The answer to the first question is no because that's not what CDecrypt does, and DiscU doesn't save a decrypted version of the ISO for you, so I had to explain that. I still added that it extracts the files, so I still answered yes in an indirect way.

3D model formats differ from game to game.

Agreed and a bit more expanded: This is nothing specific to the WiiU; it has been like this since the early days. Game developers develop their own, or sometimes license, specific tools that are used in the creation of a game. Sometimes tools are even (in a modified form) released to the public, think about level-editors that come with certain games. You will see that studios often use the same tools for different projects, sometimes with improvements, so in that case knowledge from game 1 can be used for game 2.

Game enthusiasts reverse-engineer these formats (since you have at least some basic information, like what polygon meshes look like) and based on that knowledge try to create their own editors for use in a modified version of the game.

even if it can dump the images still can't play them :creep:
DiscU doesn't create Wii U disc images from physical Wii U discs. It is a PC application that decrypts - and puts into a folder - part of (or all of) the filesystem of the Wii U disc image.

anyone looked into super mario world and mario kart files ?
It has only been a few days since this was released. I'm sure people are (slowly - and with difficulty) downloaded SM3DW and MK7.

Those were on the SNES, so yes, ages ago

I'm assuming you mean Super Mario 3D World and MarioKart 8. In that case, yes to the latter (MrBean3500 and Chadderz) and I dont THINK so to the former

lol I've been looking into it for a few days.
Archives: Yaz0 compressed SARC http://mk8.tockdom.com/wiki/SARC_(File_Format) as *.szs
Common Data Format: BYAML (unlike SMG1/2 which uses BCSV) http://mk8.tockdom.com/wiki/BYAML_(File_Format)
Layouts: szs with a .lyarc file which is really just an SARC file, which contains BFLAN (animations), BFLYT (Layout), and BFLIM (Images).
Models: BFRES with KCL and BYML data
Text: MSBT (Like SMG1/2)
Fonts: BFFNT
Shaders: BFSHA

I'm already kinda sorta working on tools.

Nothing special they already were in the GC version of the game and are documented here: http://tcrf.net/The_Legend_of_Zelda:_The_Wind_Waker/Unused_Rooms

CDecrypt doesn't download files. It only decrypts them. You have to use NUS Downloader somehow to download them. DiscU doesn't save a decrypted copy of the ISO. It only decrypts it in RAM while it runs and extracts the files from it.

He's asking if he can download and extract the files for NSMBU, to which the answer is "yes". However, all links are dead so good luck actually finding a download.

For a game that's available on both physical disc and eshop download formats, like NSMBU. If you use DiscU on the ISO of the physical disc and CDecrypt on the downloaded version, do both produce the same thing?

We can open szs files with every file explorer right ? and view the models perhaps also?
Every File Explorer has nothing related to Wii U considering the public only has had access to it for less than a week. Try my script I just finished to extract files:
http://gbatemp.net/threads/wii-u-hacking-discussion.367489/page-132#post-5286096
Also, for that same reason there are no public tools to view models (other than Hyrule Warriors/Sonic Boom/Sonic Lost World, which are only applicable to those specific games).

@BigOnYa, why did you start saying my pc has a hamster in the first place?

I think Game streaming should work like this.... Local Hardware able the run the game fine, game engine and common assets stored locally, all FMV and music and textures could be streaming

Or free government supplied high speed internet be nice also. Like Obama care. Xdqwerty that's cool, its time consuming but rewarding once done or playable, to see what you've made from scratch. Animations take forever, but worth it.

    @BigOnYa,
and the visual aspect of the game is quite crude (the sprite that looks best is that of the protagonist just because he is a stickman with sunglasses)

  • BigOnYa @ BigOnYa:
There is a bullets behaviour you assign to your character, that makes the code easier, under "behaviours"
  • Xdqwerty @ Xdqwerty:
i meant that when the character is pointing to the right, the bullets spawn where they should, but when he is on the right, they move to the right but the spawn point is incorrect
  • BigOnYa @ BigOnYa:
Itch.io has lots of free assets also. Under the bullets behavior tab, there is a "rotate bullets" option, can try that. Or in the code can try
    - fire bullet Player.X(PlayerDirection)

That's cool tho, I'm proud of you going back to it, not giving up. It is difficult at first to learn, but fun once you get the hang of it. I think I've watched every tutorial video there is, but I still struggle sometimes to get stuff to work right. But gotta keep trying dif things, and eventually you will get it right.
