I personally don't care much about the compatibility of the DS cartridge. I mean, the 3DS will be on Firmware 4.1-4.5 anyway and if I really want to play DS games, I'll play them on my DS Lite. (Playing DS games on a 3DS is awkward for me, for multiple reasons...)

Nope, it's not possible. The blue GW card is a Wood R4 Clone (probably something into the Ace3DS direction). It has to use a hacked Wood firmware.

Well fuck :( Oh well, probably better to go with the best and get a DSTWO eventually if I want to play DS games regularly. I'll just have to get used to taking it out of the 3DS when I'm not using it since I heard it drains battery pretty bad when not in use.

Yep and you have to run the GW installer as soon as you want to use the GW again. (It has to be run every time when you enter the DS mode).

Oh yeah, I knew that. It's a hassle, but nothing too bad.

Edit: Thanks, though. And sorry to semi-hijack this thread, pong!

Ok, so I just received my 3DS XL 4.5 and I'm now looking to buy.

I would like to encourage Gateway but the card cost +80$ and it seem to be the 3DS card only.

On the other hand, on modchipfactory.com it seem I can buy the DS + 3DS card (blue and gold) for 60$.

Am I missing something or the R4i is a way better deal?

Yes. You're missing the heaps of discussion between R4i and GW.

My opinion is, you should wait for GW's 2.0 firmware to arrive before decided. If in the unlikely chance GW 2.0 is a flunk, you will then be better off getting the cheaper R4i. If the GW2.0 is indeed what it is, it would be worth it.

Update will always come after the original, like much later. So I rather go with original. I rather not wait while others enjoy new update because I have a clone and have to wait. As it stand money isn't an issue because gateway does deliver and was worth the money spent.

and...

how do you know when the update will come out for these clones? do you own a clone? so far it seems all the clones are up to date with gateway and can do everything gateway can do right now

its your money at the end of the day, i however am still waiting for CFW to come out this way i dont waste any money on a stupid flashcard that will become obsolete as soon as CFW comes out, however, if CFW isnt going to be out for a while, i wont feel as bad burning $40 on a 3dslink as i would burning $80 on a gateway
just my $0.02 though

is that the floor of your house?? anyway i didnt know that you ll get a t- flash usb

That was what came in the beat up bag from modchipcentral. The microSD reader is probably like the cable, an addon freebie.

That is one of the desks I got, I use it with stuff that I cut with an exacto knife.

i thought everybody knew cocktails are like 75% ice
  • Veho @ Veho:
    Yeah but not like this.
  • Veho @ Veho:
It's not like they're complaining that their Slurpee is 99% ice or something, but if the cocktail calls for "shot of vodka, shot of vermouth, shot of gin, shot of Campari, three shots of juice, squirt of lemon" and ends up being a thimbleful of booze, that's a problem.
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
the funny thing is cocktails in norway are only allowed to have 1 20ml shot of booze
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
    so..... yeah
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
we're used to only having a thimbleful of booze

    Booo.

same thing if you want whisky on the rocks or something, you can't get a double
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
but you could buy as many shots of whisky (or anything else) as you want and ask for a glass of ice and pour them in
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
    it's dumb
  • Veho @ Veho:
    Maybe.

There was a comparison of the number of Ibuprofen poisonings before and after they limited the maximum dosage per box or per pill (i'll look that up). No limit on the number of boxes you can still buy as many as you want, so people argued it was pointless.
  • Veho @ Veho:
But the number of (accidental) poisonings dropped because drinking an entire package of ibuprofen pills went from "I need a new liver" to "I need a new box of Ibuprofen".
  • Veho @ Veho:
Here we have ketoprofen that used to be prescription-only because of the risk of toxic dosages, but then they halved the dose per pill and sell them in bottles of six pills apiece instead of twenty and it doesn't need a prescription any more. Yes you can buy more than one bottle but people simply don't.
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
Usually accidentally overdose of ibuprofen here is from people taking like cold medicine then ibuprofen for a headache and the combination is over what they need
