A sad hypothesis is that the young man is probably suffering from undiagnosed mental problems, and the mother decided it was easier to call 9-1-1 versus admitting her son into a psychiatric hospital for treatment. This is how many career criminals begin their lives. This story's headline seems humorous on its face, but I am certain that the real picture is not so funny.
