Tried MPlayer-CE and it just sat there...is DVD movie playback possible on the new Black Wiis?

DAMN IT ALL! Will it ever be fixed/hacked into place to work with burnt optical media or DVD movies?!
The LG series of DVD readers we use to RawDump Wii Discs, are there any reader/burner types of this.... if you finalized with one of them, would that be possible??

I don't think you understood what was said in June: the limitation is in the disc drive. It more accurately checks the legitimacy of wii discs. It WILL NOT read anything but legit wii discs and gamecube disks. It's a physical limitation, which can only be dealt with physical actions.Delirious17 said:

The old drives had a mode for video dvds, apparently it was planned that the Wii will be able to play them. Homebrew DVD players, backup disc loaders, and flatcable modchips(that read DVD-Rs) exploit this capability.

@Jayro, I don't see whats so special about the DS ML, its just a DS lite in a phat shell. At least the phat model had louder speakers, whereas the lite has a much better screen.+1

Agreed, that why I try to buy all my games on disc, Xbox anyways. Switch games (which I pirate tbh) don't matter much, I stay offline 24/7 anyways.

You can buy drm free games / music / ebooks, and if you keep backups of your data (like documents and family photos etc), then you shouldn't lose the game. but with a disk, your toddler could put it in the toaster and there goes your $60
