Hacking Best Way to Mod Any Wii: ModMii for Windows: Official Support Thread

XFlak I've used ModMii before on virgin systems, but now I want to redo my system so it has the new iso's and everything, but will it change my chanels that are installed and my priiloader settings?

Your Priiloader settings will be reset if you re-install Priiloader, but your channels should be left alone.

All your channels should stay the same, however, you will lose priiloader if you update your system menu (if you are on 4.1+ don't bother updating your system menu), but you can just re-install it.

I'm on 4.1 on 2 of my systems and I think 4.2 on my 3rd system.

So when I go thru the wizard don't choose the option to install Pri-loader or the System Menus, is that correct?

on the 4.1 systems, enter 4.1 as your desired firmware (which will be highlighted green and recommended)

on your 4.2 system, enter 4.2 as your desired firmware (which will be highlighted green and recommended)

Just like CFG, I wish they would release a theme or something with just the text menus again cause sometimes the GUI gets in my way.....

I have a suggestion.
You create a couple of images.(how should look the gui!) and I will convert it to a GUI.

It's easy if the Gui ends with ini file, but even easier when the Gui ends with Download.
I don't want to impose anyone. (I should like to create a Gui ends with ini file (It is adaptable for ModMII.)

However I couldn't do a NAND backup so I just skipped that and continued forward because for some reason, it wouldn't read my 1GB SD card even though the computer can read and write files to it just fine. Is the NAND backup required?

Also, is it possible to mod the Wii so I can play burnt games as well? All of my friends use the disc method and I'm the only one using the external hard drive method. This means that when people come over, I'll either have to rip the game and place it onto the external, or tell them to bring their Wii instead.

I had the same problem, I wasn't able to back up my nand so I skipped it too.

I also found out that USB Loader GX can't read my FAT32 external hard drive. I thought I plugged it in wrong so I switched em around, but still the same problem.

is it required? no. but it's almost dumb to not have one...since the effort to make one is so tiny and the value of having it if you brick your wii is so enormous. ...it's like not using a condom during a one night stand after a long night of drinking....
...just because the PC can read your SD card doesn't mean the Wii has to....what kind of card is it? have you tried reformatting the card?

in order to do what you want, you have to know first if your wii can read DVD's....if it can, then it can be modded to play backups....if you have a D3-2 drive or greater, then no dice for you; no amount of soft-modding will enable it. why don't you ask your friends what's up regarding this? you have them present/available first hand to help you out....

are you sure your folder setup is correct? have you tried a different loader (CFG, Wiiflow)? what did you use to format your HDD....what sector size did you go with?

Just come out with a new version, that will have everyone automatically download via your update, 4.6.1a or something.

Sorry for the misunderstanding. Didn't mean to for anyone to take it the wrong way. Just ModMii appears to me the same way CFG did simplicity in mind. I'm more then willing to giving it a go but i'm not one to think outside the box much so my idea of a GUI is probably not what your planning on doing and thus my opinion will change

still I look forward to it.

EDIT: I DL the latest version of ModMii from the 1st page and in fact AVG detected it as a Trojan, so I unstalled it cause I just couldnt find the option to disable like I had in Avast! (which did not find ModMii as a Trojan) so now i'm using Microsoft Security Essentials and that does not find any Trojans either. I'm guessing the one one the 1st post has the fix? Either way it goes at least you know AVG will detect it and not some of the rest for those who might be reporting it it can be known now.
