Hardware Battery in the "new 3ds xl" same as in a regular xl?

Pre ordered an australian New 3ds xl, and I definitely want to get a mugen battery for it. Can I use the current mugen battery made for the regular xl, or will I have to wait for mugen to make a new version?

Thought maybe someone who already has a japanese new xl might know. Google and even searching here have not helped, and the mugen site itself doesn´t mention anything yet either.

I would like to know the same thing, I am hoping that they kept the contact points the same, and that the Mugen battery will work.

Can anyone confirm?

Even if it did fit, the extended battery cover would not fit would it?

Would be too convenient. Wonder how long they´ll need to finish something.

It won't fit. The "New" 3DS XL battery is placed vertical on the side of the console. The 3DS XL is placed horizontal near the center.
