Gaming Are you upset that kingdom hearts 3 is skipping the Wii U?

I'm not interested in this game, but I'm tired of games not coming to the Wii U.

Does't it support the DirectX 11 equivalent OpenGL?

Honestly I'm not mad at all. Seeing as it's being developed for "next gen" systems, porting it to the Wii U might require the source to be downgraded. I consider this bad. I'm more mad that it won't be a Sony exclusive like the previous entries.

I already had a Launch Day PS4 pre-ordered so I have that system on hand for it.

Kingdom Heart is one of those game you have to accept that it'll never come to Nintendo TV console. Same thing with Uncharted, Metal Gear Solid, major FF title, etc.

Sorry, that's what I meant. The GPU is powerful enough.

Anyway, it is weird that it's being released on the X1 and PS4 but not PC. If it was just PS4, I would understand.

I never really got hooked into the series, I have a Wii U, but the game not being ported over doesn't really affect me TBH. Now to wait the inevitable group of people calling out blasphemy for never playing it.



Just because the Wii U isn't on par with the other consoles doesn't mean it can't have games look comparable to the others. How is it that the Wii U got the best console port of Need For Speed Most Wanted? It all boils down to effort; if Square Enix wants to port their games to the Wii U they can with a few cutbacks, but they won't. If you think the graphical difference between the console versions would be like night and day, you're wrong. Visually, there isn't much difference between DX10 and DX11, but API-wise, there is a difference under the hood.

The console is capable of multi-platform games, esp with GPGPU (if you even know what that is), raw CPU speed isn't as relevant as it once was.

KH sucks. Unless you like simple, mind-numbing button-mashing gameplay with awkward fantasy world cross-overs, you're missing little.

Power doesn't just go into graphics. It goes into physics, AI, animations, on-screen character animation quantities... so many things. But even if all of that was scaled back so that last generation tech could run it, the graphics would still omit the WiiU from being able to handle it.

You would have to re-write the entire graphics engine from scratch to work with OpenGL functions - the fact that it can give you equivalent results does not mean that it's cost-effective to implement. It's not a matter of a simple copy-paste plus find-replace job - the two libraries just work differently, both on a software and hardware level. No doubt the Wii U sales are not doing it any favours here, but if the games are truly developed using DirectX, I can see why one wouldn't want to switch to OpenGL just for the sake of broader support, especially at the point of development where they have working samples of the engine.

I agree. I'm sorry I wasn't clear (reading my post, I understand the confusion). I doubt that it would get ported even if this reaches the number of sigs, because there would be so much extra work.

Where is everyone basing their info off of? For all we know it could be on PC and Wii U. But yes, the main reason it wouldn't be on Wii U is because of the technical limitation. However, judging from the teaser which is all we've seen, it doesn't look like something the Wii U can't handle (very little was actually shown).

I'm more upset it is skipping PC their excuse was it uses DX11..... so they could easily port it to PC as well

Which most PS4 and Xbox One titles should be since they use the same architecture which makes porting very simple.

Yeppers, I'm prettu sure they do. That being said, DirectX 11 use gives you certain benefits over OpenGL if running on compatible hardware.

@OP: I don't get how anyone gets upset over it. There never was a KH for the wii and there never was an announcement that things would be different (and unless I'm mistaken, not even a rumor either). So...why should anyone even expect it to begin with?

I think it's because everyone thought it would be a PS4 exclusive and would just get one or get over with it, but then they announced it being multi-platform and going to Xbox One. That's why some people say it's unfair to not get it when it's multi-platform.

Didn't even know there was a KH2 lol The first one i couldn't get into and thought was boring as shite so no couldn't give a flying phlegm. Nintendo may not not have much in 3rd party support but what they do have is top notch 1st and 2nd party games that make up for it.

Exactly this. If KH3 was a PS4 exclusive, I wouldn't complain about this at all. But since it isn't, I consider it to be a kick in the face to Wii U owners and nintendo fans by square-enix.
