I followed the noob sticky guide and I'm stuck at the PSP part of the guide, specifically the activation of my Vita. I tried using ePSP 2.0 but I kept getting all sorts of errors. I then tried this guide here, and it only worked up to the part where the dummy file is installed as a bubble, and upon deleting the dummy file (not the bubble), I got a new sort of error, one that people seem to be calling the loops.

I checked the last few pages of the ePSP 2.0 thread, and apparently @Tom Bombadildo said that the new henkaku spoofs shit so ePSP is irrelevant now, so I tried regularly activating the vita. But to my surprise, I got this error: E-80558325.

A quick google search and temp search gave me: https://gist.github.com/yifanlu/c4cc12d3f1ccaebbf1846b84a69a4bfb and https://gbatemp.net/threads/do-not-deactivate-your-vita-for-now-e-80558325.479021/

So if I am to understand this correctly, I joined the Vita scene at a bad time? Is it possible for me to hack the PSP side of the Vita or even activate the Vita for any other purposes at the moment?

Alright, just used it. My Vita turned espanol so I changed it back to english. It's on airplane mode. So like, there is an account tied to the vita, what precautions should I now take so I do not get banned?

Well, Do not use PSN and stay offline. Your Vita is activated now so all functions that require activation like PSP and PS1 games. if you want, you can do a factory reset to remove your PSN account then start over with the activator.

No, it adds an activated account.

System Restore from Safe Mode -> Henkaku -> Enso -> MLTactivator is what you want to do.

DO NOT link any PSN accounts to it during setup

What do you mean by system restore from safe mode? Is restoring from the system settings fine enough? I'm getting a message whether to deactivate this system before restoring.

You can reset all Vita settings (including non-hack related ones) from safe mode by selecting "Restore the PS Vita System". You can also enter safe mode by disconnecting and reconnecting the battery during a failed boot loop. Note this does not uninstall ensō but keeps it inactive. To reactivate it, you must run the ensō installer and use the Square option to fix the boot config.

Great! Done, thanks a bunch, that was relatively simple. Now can I go online? Not on PSN, but keep the WiFi on?

you should be able to connect it to the internet, just don't launch any PSN stuff (use this to make sure you cant launch them http://wololo.net/talk/viewtopic.php?p=418888 ). also I would backup the activation files and use RoACTDat http://wololo.net/talk/viewtopic.php?f=116&t=48339 to make sure the activation files cant be deleted by Sony if the console tries to make a PSN connection and gets console banned. A console ban will not affect you if you have the activation files backed up and the RoACTDat plugin as Sony cannot make the Vita delete the activation data (because of the RoACTDat plugin) so it will stay anyway.
