Hey everyone!

I need to find a good screen capture program with audio capture for Windows 7. On my Chromebox I use Screencastify (a Chrome extension) and in theory it should work well for what I need but It's a bit too pricey for my taste. Does anyone have any suggestions?

2d/normal windows or something that uses 3d? It is not so bad these days but there is still a distinction (if you just want to capture some browser/office/editor footage for a tutorial then it plays out slightly differently than needing the 60fps full 3d gaming nonsense). What graphics card do you have (many vendors ship a streaming/capture option, by no means the only one but do a page search for predator https://gaming.msi.com/features/afterburner )? When you say audio do you mean it or can you just use the loopback option of your sound card and do it manually? If partial screen capture a thing you really want (personally I always edit video so I do not care if I have to throw in a crop, if you want more basic then that changes things)? Do you need to overlay a webcam as part of this?
Try the following two for now if the graphics card thing does not pan out

I tried Camstudio. I like it a lot but I can't seem to get it to pickup on my PC's audio. I'll be using the video cap program to record TV shows while I'm away. I'm using the Xfinity's X1 website on my Wife's PC in the bedroom and it would be nice to record a show or two while we're out. -and before someone says "what about On Demand?" not every show is available on demand.

OBS. Allows live streaming too, capture cards, specific window capture, and entire monitor capture. Choose size, resolution, bitrate, and FPS.

+1

OBS is really nice to use, but can require some tweaking for recording, as it's mainly a Streaming application.

Or if your graphics card doesn't support OBS, you could use FFSplit! You can even stream with it to YouTube :P
Okay, it's still an unstable piece of shiet, but if it doesn't crash on startup, you're good to go with FFSplit :D

I used to use OBS on an Intel Intergrated 4000 HD and it worked, so I don't see how a graphics card couldn't support OBS.

Oh, OBS easily. It can record just like Dxtory and Fraps if you get the right settings. Maybe even afterburner.

Have you tried upgrading it to CurlyFries 2.6 Toaster? I heard it has better results on that...

Nah, it's way too expensive for me. According to Google Converter, I bought my computer for ~45.27€/50.53$, and I had difficulties even buying this, so upgrading is not possible. The Intel GMA915 in my ancient laptop is a gajillion times better, but it doesn't support OpenGL2.1 though.

Well, since I'm here, might as well just ask.
What are the optimal settings on OBS for a shitty potato laptop with an HD graphics 4000 with 4GBs of ram, an i3 3217u @ 1.8GHz x4 running Windows 10?

My friend has OBS and the exact same laptop ( Except he has an HD graphics 3000 ) and can record stuff in 720p with barely any lag, stuff like CSGO and Battlefield 3. But when I try to, things turn into a slideshow and it gets even worse when it's done on the actual video... Please help :c
