So I watched the youtube video supplied in this thread, seemed a little old. Can someone load up their unique console header and change it in a hex editor like he did and potentially use another random serial number attached to a good system and get that system banned? That would suck, getting randomly banned for doing nothing.
You don't get banned for nothing, out region online play can be a reason, modified data too. It always depend on who decide the rules and the sentence.
Believing that you cannot be ban for out of region play is being delusional.
It's not because switch suddenly came out with a pseudo free region that they will allow region free on their old consoles.

If he has another 3ds console that he can access he can workaround the ban and take the friend code(dont recall the exact file so this could be wrong) and move it to his banned system. I've done this when I had to unban my capture card from a perma
I think you misread my comment. The issue was in the youtube video supplied in this thread showing the unbanning of a console. He used a Hex editor to change the serial number to a random one and injected it back to the emunand..he states you could possibly ban another user if that randome serial number matched by doing something banable with it.
Ho yea, the friend local seed (I think it's named like that).
Grosso merdo, you take your friend ID to got in a club 18+. If you get caught, you get both punished for it. Because they ban the seed, so every console using it get banned.
That's why publicly shared seeds didn't last long.
And I don't think that you can fake a seed like he did in the video. Seems too easy.

inject localfriend file from another 3ds. (First used a friend then bought a broken 3ds that worked enough to get file)
I feel really sorry for him.
He's kind enough to give his friend an important localfriendseed, and his friend screw it up (again).
I already switched it with a differnt one from a broken 3ds and my first ban was from the pokemon issue and he did the same thing with another 3ds that was broken
OK, as I though, he didn't give the one from his console.
Better caution next time about ban privacy, since you already waste 2 localfriendseeds.
Like I have stated the first was from the pokemon sun/moon bans and alot of people made that mistake and this time was from playing an out of region game and I honestly thought with luma I was able to play all regions on and off line. Now I will ask that everyo e back off I am tired of all the rude comments
Again, there's no proof that playing MHXX caused your ban. Hundreds if not thousands of players are playing MHXX with the English patch on out of region 3ds with no bans to show for.
Stop blaming luma/out of region games for your own fault. You already got banned once, it's not surprising to see you getting banned again.
Can Nintendo ban you for playing it? Sure.
Has anyone ever been banned for playing out of region games? I don't see any, even if there is, it isn't wide spread enough that people aren't making a big fuss out of it.
Edit: Have you ever considered the idea that maybe, just maybe, Nintendo banned your friend code because your friend went online at the same time and they detected different consoles using the same friend code file?

It was the only thing that I have done on that 3ds in months I wasn't blaming MHXX I was just saying thats all I did after updating from A9LH to B9S. Yes it was my fault because it was in my hands and inexperience with cfw stuff but I am saying if it was because of playing a game the only game was MHXX
He said on Sun Moon Ban wave, his friend also fix his console by using localfriendseed from broken machine, not the current one his friend use.
So, Sun Moon EU Ban doesn't count as out of region online ban?
Sun Moon EU have release date later than ROW,
so people who play it the same day as ROW, got ban, even if they were using legit cart that the shop sell before the release date of EU.
Well, not sure about MHXX. That's why I tell you that may be ban policy is vary form game to game.

I don't think the ban is for playing out of region games, me and 4 friends have played mhxx and mh stories with english patches for the last 2 months and i'm the only one who got banned, i think it's for playing pirated games or homebrew cias (i'm the only one who uses them a lot) they haven't played on 3DS during the last week so maybe nintendo started to collect data during that time and i was playing a pirated copy of smash (i also have a cartdrige but the N3DS slot sucks) with some mods, so it could be for the pirated smash or for smash selector
