Mario kart only runs in 1080P on the switch and splatoon 2 runs 720p docked and in handheld mode on the switch with no anti aliasing since you clearly see jagged edges everywhere. Don't get me wrong i love splatoon but seeing how a new console doesn't even run a game higher then 720p and can't handle anti aliasing has me worried since it needs 3th party support for it to be succesfull but 720p after 2017 till 2022 is just not acceptable and developers won't support that in the near future. They're not going to the trouble to downgrade each game and cut sound quality and so forth losing money for all the extra work to make it even run on the system.

So, i'm a major geek who owns a lot of game systems, pc's, tablets, and so on. I love all of them. I never understood the mindset that if you like xbox, you hate playstations. if you drink budweiser you hate coors. If you're a raiders fan, you have to hate the 49'rs. I have an nvidia tablet and I absolutely love it. I am not a big fan of games on tablets though. The only reason I say that is because i think it's not very fun to play games that only have touch for input. That's what I really love about my nvidia tablet. The game controller it comes with might not be the best looking controller, but it really rocks. I play my DS games on it instead of my 3DS. Ever sinse getting that tablet I have wanted a portable game system that is a tablet with the controller integrated just like the switch. I know there have been a few like it, but non with decent games. Yes, i would like to see more third party games for the switch, but at the same time the idea of zelda, mario, and other nintendo games and a portable tablet will be awesome. I understand it's not what everyone wants. I understand it's not as powerful as the other consoles, but it's not trying to be like them. In order for it to be a hybrid, it has to be be a little nerfed. I mean can you imagine if they tried to make the latest xbox and playstation portable?

They could if they supported the Wii U for 2 more years instead of ending it after 4 years and wouldn't have rushed the Switch to get rid of the Wii U disaster. If they waited they could have released it with pascal architecture wich means less power consumption wich means less heat and graphical power almost equal to the xbox one. It's as simple as that

Closer to the 5 year mark than the 4 year mark, but yeah, They definitely ended support before any of their other successful consoles. And the development cycle is a little bit longer than that

There might be a "NEW switch" in 2-3 years though using pascal. We'll see.

The funny thing is that it's not up to the guy anyway. If EA tells them to get Titanfall 2 running on Switch, they'd have to do it. And there's no doubt in my mind that TF2 could run on Switch, you'd just need to compress some textures.

On another note, everybody likes Overwatch better than Titanfall 2 anyway, and that's definitely something that could be ported.

lol @ people being surprised that the switch isnt as powerful as ps4/xb1, its a hybrid and it's nintendo, what did you expect.

That being said, raw power does not a console make.

Technically we don't know that it's even very far behind XB1, 900p@30 is par for the course in open world games there as well.

I'm not sure why people can't get their heads round the handheld vs. hybrid thing. Obviously the switch is designed first and foremost as a home console with the added feature that it can double as a handheld.

This presumably means less portability and battery life but more power. Clearly there have had to be some concessions made so you're not lugging an Xbox One sized thing round with you hence "hybrid". A 3DS is designed with the opposite in mind. Although I don't know how big and heavy the Switch actually is I doubt it will be something you will want to carry around in your pocket. Maybe it's more in line with replacing the 3DS XL in that sense.

Also, count me in as one of the people who doesn't give a jot about resolution!

Is anyone saying that tho ? You should read. Plus it's not a HANDHELD device, it's a HYBRID device stated by Nintendo itself. And like many already said, if they waited 2 years and went with pascal instead then they would have longer battery life, less heat and power equal to an xbox one ! It's that simpel, denying that is just fanboyism.

Even with pascal, it could have probably like 75% of the xbox one's power.

And MS/Sony could've waited two years to release XB1/PS4. Then they wouldn't need to be doing these half-generation upgrades. You never go to consoles if your primary concern is power.

People actually buying Switch don't care that it isn't the most powerful console on the market. It does a lot that its competitors simply don't.

And it's 2017 now and Nintendo is releasing a console that can barely run 900p 30fps with anti aliasing enabled so Jagged edges everywhere ! We don't even know yet that it isn't Pascal in Switch. And Pascal is basically just 16nm Maxwell anyway. The difference isn't as huge as you're making it out to be. XB1/PS4 are going to be supported as long as Pro/Scorpio are, so it doesn't really matter that you think those consoles are "outdated." Consoles are always outdated hardware-wise compared to PCs, so that's a moot point.

I hope to fucking fuck that Nintendo learns what Anti-aliasing is. It's probably my biggest gripe with the 3DS. Super low-res gaming, so it should handle a little AA just fine. The new Pokemon games make my eyes bleed from the lack of AA.
