I have a Japanese Wii U and what I actually wanted to achieve by installing CFW is playing some games in English. That works fabulous with games that don't have the Japanese language files included like Splatoon (although it still shows as スプラトーン on the home menue) but does not work with games like DKTF or Pokken (tried to decrypt and exchange all relevant language files in Pokken and it kind of works but the formating is still off)

Is there any way to start games with a certain language flag or modify mocha so it will change the language flag of the system?

I think the game region is not the problem. The game is booting flawlessly... but its in Japanese. If I had to take a guess than I would say some games check the LANGUAGE or COUNTRY flag (see picture at https://gbatemp.net/threads/regionhax-how-to-get-regionfree-on-wiiu.448468/). On a Japanese system, you cannot change this in the system settings. Since it still should be buried in the firmware files somewhere, I guess one would be able to spoof this....somehow.

From what I know, its possible by manual editing the langages files in the game itself. But this manipulation varies with each game (depend on how langage files are stocked).

No idea for DKTF or Pokken, if I got time, i'll maybe check that later

EDIT : I'm the OP from RegionHax

Same problem here with a japanese wiiu also.
As stated above there is no way to change the system language, maybe the title for it are not even present.
we have to wait for a way to spoof the system language!

Hum if you want transform a Jap Wii U into Eu (or just get Eu langage on it or whatever), you have to find a way to change Console Region AND Console Langage. Game Region is just a third parameter, but it does not affect the system (or game) langage (it just lock other regions games to launch). But you have to know that ALL preinstalled applications (disk channel, mii maker and ALL other apps on WiiU Menu) are region locked too.

Maybe the way to do this would be to emulate another system region on a rednand first to do some tests. I don't know if @dimok is working on that or not.

What OP is asking for sounds like it should be pretty easy if the right tool or feature was implemented..
When a game does a check on the system region, OP wants the region byte to be spoofed and the check will return some thing like "Europe" instead of "Japan", and that way the game will end up deciding that it should load english instead of good old japanese..

Luma3ds CFW on the 3DS can do this.. I'm not as familiar with the wii-u scene, but I wanted to clarify what OP is asking for to see if any one else can help him, or maybe some one can add that feature to mocha or some thing.. (Or maybe some method already exists that some one can tell him about?)..

Thanks for backing me up. I thought my question was precise enough...apparently not ^_^
So: The 3DS has exactly the same behavior. Most games fall back to English when they detect a Japanese firmware but if the language files are available, the game starts in Japanese (same games start with no typeset ;D ). Luma has a function to choose what language to start with (which is incredible useful).

Now the question is: Is the implementation trivial or does the firmware crash immediately once the language flags are changed (and the nand only has the Japanese typeset)?
