So because you can't see the benefit, a A9LHed console has to stay a brick if you're out of a SD card for some time while a stock or menuhaxed console can still be used?
Interesting.

I never said that, in fact....
I'm sure this will provide plenty of people use in one way or another

I'm just a really careful/adamant guy. I try not to leave my SD cards lying around or leave them in my PC. When I'm done with them, I put them back in the console. That's just me. Either way, I'm not here to argue, I was here to ask a question and I got an answer.

Well it's like me saying I don't see the point of region patching because I always install games from my region but I'm sure this will provide plenty of people use in one way or another.

A9LH not booting without a SD card was a limitation (a small one we all agree) and now it's almost gone thanks to Aurora and Shadowhand and all the community's dev.

I personally wait for a final/official release to install it but I'm following the development with great interest.

Right, but all that can be done with your SD card in as well, so that doesn't provide any benefit other than if you don't have your SD card with you. I dunno, I guess I've never had the issue of forgetting my memory card since every time I go to install something I usually have to pull it out of my PC to put it back into my 3DS. And that's just my thoughts is all, I'm sure this will provide plenty of people use in one way or another. Thanks for the hard work by the way.
Actually, I've experienced it once that my sd card got corrupted because of some shi*ty card reader during transfer and rendered my n3ds unusable until I reformatted my sd and reinstalled a9lh (which btw, was longer proccess than expected because my corrupted sd card can only be read by the 3ds if it's formatted only by emunand9, but i can no longer access emunand9 because a9lh doesn't boot without the proper payload)(see the struggle? ). Booting ShadowNAND without sd could've been helpful that time.

Ps. Sorry for bad english.

I fixed my problem, I just put "ctrbootmanager9" as boot.bin and as default it loads any payload called "arm9loaderhax.bin" now it doesn't have trouble with any payloads, before it wouldn't load some payloads with the name of "boot.bin" but ctrboot fixed that easily, and shadowNAND works like arm9 would usually do but with the exeption of booting without the sdcard

I just registered to say thanks, SaltFW saved my day... and it's freaking easy to install, damn. Luma stopped working just because I moved one file and this put everything up and set again. Minimun effort, maximum satisfaction, hell yeah.

is this mean BootAnim9 should work now ?

And that's why you should have sd image backups on a weekly base (i make every sunday backups of my sd and nand stuff)
Yes, call me paranoid, but weekly i make a backup of everything:

- Copy all my files to a backup HDD (x:\3DSBackup\SD Files\2016-xx-xx\)
(not every image of a 32gbsd can be written back to a 32GB sd from another brand)
(So this way i can take a new sd from another brand, use emunand9 to prepare it, restore emunand backup and copy files back)

- Make an image of my SD with (win32diskimager) (x:\3DSBackup\SD Image\2016-xx-xx\)
(for writing back to the same sd/other sd of the same size and brand)
- Make a sysnand backup (x:\3DSBackup\NAND Backups\2016-xx-xx\sysnand.bin)
- Make an emunand backup (x:\3DSBackup\NAND Backups\2016-xx-xx\emunand.bin)
(yes there's also a folder (x:\3DSBackup\A9LH\) that has everything needed for safea9lhinstaller (otp and bins etc...)

When done, the date folders get backupped to an external HDD with the same folder structure.
I used to do it monthly, but after getting a corrupt sd the day before my monthly backup day, i started doing it weekly less game progress loss on played games.
(Yes i just started Pokémon that month and had passed the elite 4 + some hours extra gameplay to get all pokémon (no cheating done), had to start from scratch)

[EDIT]
I keep 3 weeks backups of everything
When the 4th backup is done and written to HDD's i wipe the oldest backup

Nice structure I might as well start doing this, thanks for the advice!

Wow...no offense but one day you'll realize it's just a 3DS and doesn't really matter.

Just back your saves up every few months...

I know it's just a 3ds :P
It's not only the saves
putting back an 32gb sd image over usb3.0 takes less then 30 minutes, even writing the files back to sd takes less then an hour.
Way shorter in time then creating a new emunand, reinstalling all games, redownloading all bought games
making a sysnand/emunand backup doesn't take much time and you can do that while eating/shower/whatever not game related time
On sunday i start working doing stuff for work, while doing that, it's no fuss to take out my sd and make a backup of everything.

So no i don't spend extra hours wasting time waiting for backups to finnish and not been able to play, it just takes a few extra minutes of already behind my pc time i would not play my system anyway time.

But we should be back on topic anyway ;)

Oh yeah, I also made a master back up image but once

Well, I will show my reasons that why I think that ShadowNAND needs TWL patches and RF (at least RF NS).

- Play any blocked DS flashcard.
- Play Custom DSiWare (Launchers, homebrew, forwarders, etc.).
- Play any 3DS cardridge of any region.
- Play any .3ds rom on sky3ds+.
- Any homebrew's future proof having some of them into the NAND (perhaps HBL and GridLauncher into the NAND).

You're right. Since then, after I cleanly setup a9lh to my primary sdcard, I purchased a backup sdcard and copied all my files there. That way, if ever I messed up my primary sdcard again, I can just insert my backup card, run emunand9, decryp9, or hourglass9 to format my primary card and just copy back all my files. The only thing I backup every once in a while are my save files to save storage space. But after ShadowNAND, I might nod need my backup card anymore haha (JK I still need it to be extra safe)

I tried asking on reddit and didn't get a real answer. What kind of benefits/reasons would people have to running their CFW without an SD card? Can't run any CIA games/apps. Lose access to your homebrew. Can't access eShop or themes. I mean, if you wanted to boot into it without an SD card and play a retail cartridge you've got that going for you.
If the SD reader in your 3DS breaks, you still have a working console.

Two other advantages:
*You still have a working console if you forget your sd card at home.
*You also don't get disqualified at a pokemon tournament if the judge decides to check your system for mods by removing the sd card and booting the system. : )

I don't need to remove my backplate anymore
Bought a shady chinese knockoff cover and dremeld out that bit that covers the sd :)
Just need to remove my clear plactic cover on that side, and that's just 1 pull away.
