Maybe someone should consider starting a new thread specific to what this thread has turned into? Don't you think it warrants its own thread related to this solution with all the important posts from this thread?
I agree.Maybe someone should consider starting a new thread specific to what this thread has turned into? Don't you think it warrants its own thread related to this solution with all the important posts from this thread?
no i use mine with sysnand onlySorry if this has been answered already, this thread has moved on rapidly that it's become hard to follow.
If using the method by liomajor, do we still need to to have a 9.2 EmuNAND? In other words, does Gateway still rely on 9.x native_firm?
Pro tip: Instead of loading Luma directly, load bootanim9 instead. You'll have plenty of time to switch button presses while the animation is playing. There are some super cool animations made already. The only drawback is that you need to hex edit or use the path changer on Luma's arm9loaderhax bin for it to work properly with GBA VC, DSiware, and such. Not too difficult though.I had some trouble with the awkward button setup, because I wanted to have Gateway set as default and Luma3DS as secondary, but I wasn't able to load other payloads through Luma, most likely because I had X+Y held down.
+1 for a summary and tutorial
The only thing they've said is the latest blog update on GW's site.Still waiting on the release. Any update...?
There is already Plailect's Tutorial, you only need to use this for install/update a9lh instead.
Anyway, its simple starting the delivered arm9loaderhax.bin to update or
.3dsx from homebrew launcher for a first installation, hit select after it pops
up when all needed files are located in a9lh folder > done.
in the newest bootanim9 source is pathchanging included. The latest bootctr9 dev build also supports top-screen animations and path patching.Pro tip: Instead of loading Luma directly, load bootanim9 instead. Did you know it they managed to run / install "plain" (decrypted) DLC content? What we currently know:
-Updating sysNAND after GW A9LH will either brick the 3DS, or remove A9LH from the system.
-It's possible to have 11.0 on Gateway sysNAND while still maintaining A9LH, it requires you flash an 11.0 NAND.bin during the A9LH install process
-The downgrader is extremely unstable. Don't use it.
-N3DS has a 100% brick rate if you use only Gateway's stuff, due to them not unbricking emuNAND before flashing. (People recommend to use Plail's part of the guide for this section)
-No GBA support, although someone states that they can run GBA in sysNAND.
-DS Games and Flashcards do work in emuNAND.
-Some report that important homebrew apps such as Decrypt9WIP do not work alongside this alpha build.
-Gateway's payload does not work with other existing payloads, nor does the vice versa work.
-Users have reported that there is a screen flicker problem with the 4.0a build.
-No support for n3DSes on 8.1J, users just get a 'FATAL ERROR: no browser" message.
-n3DS can't upgrade to 10.3 while o3DS can.
-A bug has been brought to light, regarding NAND Backups.
To run GBA games you must install the same game in SYSNAND and EMUNAND to get it working.-No GBA support, although someone states that they can run GBA in sysNAND.
I don't know if they've fixed their CFA patching issue, sorry.Did you know it they managed to run / install "plain" (decrypted) DLC content?
Howling Theme Tool's Custom Theme packages does not work on GW because they "forget" to patch that
by the way... you said:
To run GBA games you must install the same game in SYSNAND and EMUNAND to get it working.
I do not have tried this on this GW beta, but you MUST do that to get GBA games working on any CFW.
I meaned that for EmuNAND. I know (and you wrote on the OP) people can run the games in SysNAND...I don't know if they've fixed their CFA patching issue, sorry.
You only need to install a GBA game once, if you're using it in sysNAND. For emuNAND you need to install to both NANDs.
Well alright.I meaned that for EmuNAND. I know (and you wrote on the OP) people can run the games in SysNAND...
Yep, pretty much.So I understand that with this tripple stage 2 a9lh i can launch a "regular" a9lh stage 2 by not pressing anything and Gateways stage 2 by pressing x+y.
from what I gathered in this thread i can not update the sysnand when launching the gateway stage 2, correct?
But i can uodate the sysnand if, for example. i launch the "regular" stage 2 launching luma, right (FIRM0 and FIRM1 protected, obviously)?
am I grasping this correctly?
