It's how I got my accessories before he added it :3
And mah ability to turn into a faceless at will with the talent changer. Say, Considering how once you reclass into a vanguard you can turn into onee via heart seal?
Wouldn't that mean there's a value determining heart sealable classes?

Okay, I've got a problem. Previously, I've been able to hex edit the hair color of units in the hex editor for both their portrait and their Private Quarters art. I do this by modifying two different hex values in the chapter file; one for each of them. But for some reason now, the second set of hex values, the one that corresponds to the Private Quarters, doesn't exist. Has anybody else had experience with these values appearing and disappearing, and how one might get them to show in the chapter file again so they can be edited?

Note: I have checked this value for both units I have and haven't talked to in the Private Quarters. So it's not my initial thought, that the values are set and stored the first time they're used.

I think such values are hard-coded. You can view and change the values for whether or not you have been in a DLC class before, but you can't change what classes each of those correspond to. You would have to mod the game.

Does anyone know of guides for hex editing to max out characters, and have everything unlocked for them? Thanks!

Is there a reason you prefer to use hex editing rather than Soaprman's beautiful editor to do this? If you want to max out all the characters, you could just use his editor and click a bunch of buttons. Much easier. Unless there's a feature you want to change that his program doesn't support? Can't think of anything off the top of my head, but if that's the case, or you just really like hex editing, just refer to a post with a char block diagram like this: https://gbatemp.net/threads/fe-fates-save-hex-editing-guide.423305/

I've heard of the existence of two values for hair color before, but I've only ever seen it on Corrin (a second value in the end block). Every other unit (including children) has only one hair color value from what I've seen. Got something to point to? Like a hex screenshot of an old save or something?

Uhmm, it'd be tricky to show you the existence of the second hex value easily, (especially since I don't have any save files on hand where I can find the second value), but here's an impossible blue-haired Ophelia with a really creepy expression: http://i.imgur.com/YeDH144.jpg Proof that I have been able to modify the colors in the past.

This is really weird. Never happened to me before. Editing kid's hair colors is my favorite pastime, but now it's impossible. I see why your save editor doesn't change the colors in the Private Quarters now. It's hard to edit values you can't see.

Are you sure it was the Chapter save and not the Global save?

EDIT: Actually, scratch that. It might be in what I've dubbed the "Chaos Block" in the notes I've been taking about the file structure. It's near the bottom of the file.

I've attached a screenshot. The highlighted bytes are... Soleil's hair in my save, I think.

Is this where you were editing?

Yep, I think that's it. I remember those diagonal stripes of text. To confirm, you might want to change it, and see if it effects the hair color or Soleil in the Private Quarters. Note that there should be two occurrences of that hex value in the Chaos Block, one for Soleil, and one for her mother, who also possesses the same Private Quarters hex value. I'm going to dig through some of my old saves and see if I can find out for sure. Because right now, my saves either don't contain the Chaos Block (probably not), or the hair colors aren't contained within it. (which is more likely, but I have no idea why it would happen)

I'll look into it next time I'm in the neighboorhood. It'll probably be a good while (if ever) before I get to making FEFTwiddler edit that data, though, because there is a lot of data between the beginning of the My Castle block and that block that I don't understand the meaning or structure of.

Okay, I found a working file. Here's a pic of Camilla's Private Quarters hex value near the beginning of the Chaos Block:

And here's Camilla!Nina's Private Quarters hex value near the end of the Chaos Block:

May or may not have those two mixed up.

And I'm freaking out because I can't find the Chaos Block in my new save anywhere. That appears to be the source of my troubles

EDIT: The part where you found the hex values and the part where I did look slightly different. Maybe they're not the same?

It's probably the same block, though I'm not sure it always looks the same. I also don't get why it's in the My Castle region. There's a reason I nicknamed it the Chaos Block!

Though, to be fair, I haven't put as much effort into understanding it as I could. I probably won't get to it for a while, either.
