Think I found the problem, apparently if you only have one badge sets, the set will show up in your Badges, and the set will say it contains the right amount of badges, except it'll actually be empty once you switch to it.

I made myself a second set of badges and added it to a fresh BadgeData.dat along with my first set, and both sets show up properly, and they contain the right badges as they should.
huh, I never tested it with only importing one set (I only tested by importing two)

When I put it in my 3DS, only this set went out. Is this my fault, or a bug?
EDIT: Well, today I opened the Badges game, and it ereased all my badges. Also, I think the new BadgeData.bin is new in some way, and it's not compatible with your program. I tried to edit the new file, and it didn't worked out (when I tried to edit o put in a new set, all the badges turn into some pink colour, and I was unneable to save the file...)

theres an easier way to make the shape, just click the color you want to be transparent

If there is a new format for BadgeData.bin, this is news to me. For now, I recommend just making badge sets from scratch, and not using the badge arcade after doing so

@TheToxicRyu if you have imported a set, it renders badges after the ones you've imported useless. so if you had 10 badges, and imported 5, the 10 will still show up, but badgemngfile.dat is updated to only know that the 5 exist

I didn't import any badges only. I only tried to dump badges like I said but only the first five badges are dump.

A little late to the party... But can you possibly make badges that open system apps (and possibly user installed apps) I'd like to add more customization to my 3DS.

You can absolutely make badges point to system apps (not sure how, check the GYTB thread for info). Not currently possible to point to any installed apps.

come to think of it, It might be somewhat easy to patch the home menu to allow for badges on any installed app. Maybe @yifan_lu @Reisyukaku or @Aurora Wright would know how to -hint hint-

yeah, hopefully as soon as we can figure out how to use that patched loader, we can start work on stuff like that ;)
If I had to guess, it's probably because either A:It could mess something up with deleting those titles (since system ones can't be deleted by the average user)
or B:nintendo would have to implement a way to assign the badges to a title

(It's been a little over two weeks since the last post so I'm sorry for the bump. :P)

I'm trying to import badges and it works fine up until it tries to write them to extdata in which it just stays like that. I left it on overnight (with a charger) because I thought that maybe it would just take a while but 5 hours later nothing had happened. Am I doing something wrong or is it because I'm trying to import a lot of badges (about 3,100ish)?

Badge extdata only supports up to 3000 badges. (I believe that mega badges count as more-- if you have an image that's, say, 320x192px, it'll take up 15 slots instead of 1, because it has to be split up into 15 separate badges.) Bring down your badge count and try it again, it should work just fine.
