I saw it but I thought someone had already given the answer.
With a firmware above 9.2 (such as yours in 9.9), you can't do anything other than playing homebrews or use a Sky3DS to play roms (much more limited of course).
You can't install CIAs and you can't downgrade.

There's only two ways to downgrade:
a) software downgrade (9.2 or below)
b) with a backup of the NAND while it had exploitable firmware and a hardmod

Both of those options can't be used in your case.

Someone did give an answer, I just wanted to double check with you since you had seemed more knowledgeable, plus wanted to confirm with multiple people.

But yeah looks like I'm out of luck in that case

Guys i need some help. I have a 9.0 New 3DS XL with Gateway and MSET.

Last night I separated my emu/sys NANDS last night via removing SD card and formatting sysNAND.

So needing to reinstall Gateway MSET, I followed the instructions exactly from Gateway 3.2 to reinstall it and now every time i hit "DS Profile" i get the error message "An Error Has Occurred"

I'd rather not have to cart swap with cubic ninja to launch my emuNAND, can anyone help me here? Thanks a lot :)

EDIT: Silly me, i accidentally installed MSET_eur.cia to emuNAND instead of sysNAND.

So, say I'm gonna purchase another 3DS, original or New notwithstanding.

Should I be aiming at buying those with older firmwares or those with newer ones (capping at 9.2, of course)?

As long as it's 9.2 or below, it doesn't matter. Some rare cases come without the browser installed (last digit of firmware -0) but you can't check for that anyway.

if i have a "new" 3DS using only gateway can i run emulators like mGBA and gPSP? I searched and read they need a homebrew launcher but gateway doesn't need one? *confused*

Hey guys. Just wondering if anyone has bought a Japanese N3DS LL recently. Are they still shipping with <9.2 firmware?

Also, if I want to use Gateway but don't have a second 3DS to "prepare cubic ninjas/OoT" as the gateway manual describes, what are my options?

Thanks

...and there's no .cia versions of them at all...

No? Well.. some other emulators have it. Did you check Retroarch nightlies?

You can use a save dongle to prepare OoT. For CN, I don't need you need anything.
You can also just use a CFW first though and then once you're able to install CIAs, you just need to install CN in CIA format and use that to boot GW.

As for N3DS consoles, all new and unused consoles will most likely come with firmware above 9.2.
But there's a thread here about the serial of N3DS XL (LL) consoles that come with exploitable firmware. Search for it and check if it's useful.

Yeah, it's very useful, especially for asking ebayers questions. No use for buying new online sadly. Impossible to find pls stock in London too :(

Well, I'm back after burying my mead in the ps4 and PC for gaming the past couple months and what would I be able to do with 2 O3DS one with 4.3 (which I'm probably put the the omega fw on) and the other with 4.5 (which has omega), also my N3DS which has ofw 9.7.0-25U. I'm just out the loop and decided to ask here before reading all the newer stuff and be confused lol. Just to let you know that I do have a couple Cubik Ninja (US) copies which may help. I do have a Gateway and Sky3ds blue button.

Your two O3DS can use GW and CFW. Nothing much changed other than new homebrew like emulators.
Your N3DS can only use Sky3DS and the homebrew loader (no CIAs, no CFW, no GW).

Thank you for your response. Are there anything that I can use on either like tools or anything?

Well... plenty of stuff that can be used. With exploitable firmware, the sky is the limit. I can't tell you everything but as I said before, CFWs will work, GW also works, homebrews usually work better (altho since N3DS is more powerful, N3DS is still better), you can install and run CIAs but that's also kinda related to CFWs, you can use themes, etc...

--------------------- MERGED ---------------------------

How to update 2DS from 7.2 to 9.0 in order to use Homemenuhax?

Get either an old Pasta CFW version or rxTools and set it up in your 2DS.
Then get an app called sysupdater and the 9.0 firmware files in CIA format (you can find it in that "ISO" website for the "3DS").
And then if you use rxTools, boot it in devmode and use sysupdater to update to firmware 9.0.

so what should i do if i have only gateway?
You can use emulators in CIA format. Not all but there's several available. Check the thread here about Retroarch nightlies.

Hello, looking for some assistance with the R4i Gold Deluxe 3ds.
Carried out and installed beginning of last year, all games work great with the exception of super smash bros.
My sons sysnand for his 3ds is 4.5.0-10E and reading over the last couple of days, it seems that there is some form of spoof software which enables the 3ds to play newer games.
I have installed a few different versions of the launcher dat but currently running with 4.02b.
If someone could point myself in the right direction, would be much appreciated.
Oh, and to top it off, I cannot find the blue card as it has gone missing.
Please help.
Many Thanks
Wayne

@The Real Jdbye, I thought about that and I have blank DVD's and Blurays but honestly after like 90 songs I just listen to it a couple of hundred times toss it out and burn something else or have like 2-3 CD's. Florida here the heat in the car tends to ruin the CD's after like a few months even commercial pressed ones don't last too long.
