Ok quick update for you

When powering on the machine i can press any button at all up down L (any) and it will boot me into the actual sysNAND

This is where the trouble begins, i am unable to use GW properly, i use the GW exploit and am able to load the GW menu i press B then A and then X to confirm as normal, however this is where it all goes wrong, i just get a flashing red screen on the bottom screen

If i try to use the webbrowser in sysNAND it just boots me through the autoboot setup and takes me to the emunand i setup last night

I tried in sysnand using CN catridge to load GW menu and inserted red and tried the same but with the same flashing red lower screen

So as it stands this is what i can do... My N3DS boots automatically into emunand (no splashscreen, no button press required), I can access the real sysnand by pressing a button on boot

What i cannot do is access GW sysnand mode or reinand sysnand mode (i have tried switching out the emunand reinand autoboot files for the reinand system mode ones with no success), i am unable to access the homebrew channel through any method (as detailed above)

All i wanted was to add devmenu.cia to my sysnand, but as has been said above there is no real need for this, sooooooo.... perhaps i should give up?! I spent an entire day and a lot of stress and grief as well

I will be grateful with what i have, which is a N3DS that autoboots straight to emunand 9.5 without any interaction and enjoy it

Case closed.................. Unless something new develops

Thank you to all of you who have offered your time, help, assistance, i am grateful but i accept defeat now

Why do you want dev cia installed on your sysNAND? i failed to see the purpose of this.

You make a very valid point, i am not 100% sure tbh with you, it was just something that i always had in the past for legit cia, but i dont really need it now i guess as i have them all in emuNAND

Believe it or not but your comment has made me feel better although it may have not been the intention :D

Okay, got it working.
I'm using reiNAND 2.1's firmware.bin, a Gateway formatted emuNAND and booting it through rxTools, replacing the boot.3dsx with a renamed rxtools.3dsx.
I'm at System Settings, and I'm getting "RX-E 9.0.0-20E".
How can I update it to RX-E 9.5.0-23E on a new3DS?

You're using rxTools now then instead of Reinand. xD

But the process is the same, you can get the firmware update from pastebin or 'that 3ds site with isos' > Place it on mSD > Install with Title manager (BigBlueMenu / Devmenu) in Emunand.

I know the site you mean.
Can you tell me what the file's name is?
I can track it down with that.

Good am. I have n3ds xl running 9.0.0.20U. I have a cubic ninja physical cart. I am following this guide from OP's pastebin.

I dont have a gateway so I am following "PROCESS WITHOUT GATEWAY" in the word document.

In step 1 backing up NAND, Everytime I use ninja cube to scan qr code which in the guide said that it will boot gateway menu, I will encounter the "NETWORK ERR!".
I tried it numerous time already, tried googling about it, and checked my internet.

Can someone help me why i am encountering it. If someone has a new guide setting up Reinand to N3dsXL please help.

TIA.

If you've been using Tubehax (changing your DNS in the internet settings) you'll need to revert your 3DS' internet settings back to default.
Pretty much confirm that you can connect to the internet browser on the 3DS & you'll be set.

There are alternative methods to installing / running cfw & guides on how to do so on the forums.
Just do a quick search for Themehax / Home menu hax.
Since you have Cubic Ninja though, you may as well use that imo. :P

Hey everyone I followed this tutorial (thanks usernametaken!) and everything worked without any problems. I got a few questions though that I hope someone can clarify: What is the benefit of seperating sysNAND from emuNAND or why should I do it (last step in tutorial). When I am using Reinand (through the NS profile exploit) it gives me the correct firmware number (Rei9.0.0.20). Can I update the firmware on emuNAND to acess the eshop and play games online or will I run into problems? Thanks.

Okay, dumb question... But when I first installed ReiNAND on my N3DS it was pretty much set up for 9.0 - 9.2 FW. Well, I've found myself in a situation where I'm on 9.0 emuNAND and need to update to 9.5. Could someone please break down that process for updating the emuNAND? Thanks in advance.

Look at two posts up from yours, and look at the guy's signature. That tutorial includes how to set up reinand and how to update your firmware to 9.5. If you need more help along the way, feel free to post here or there.

Ah, thanks for pointing that out. I missed that there was a straight-up update bit. Guess that's what I get for just skimming over what I'm reading =/

Lol and I didn't even realize this was the tutorial thread! I thought this was the reinand release thread. I guess that's what I get for skimming and not reading ;) I woulda just told you to look through the rest of the tutorial if I had known.

Heh, good to know I'm not the only one today :P . Actually, would you happen to know if the update has to be installed with BigBlueMenu? Doesn't DevMenu do the same thing?

I think I ended up using both when I did it.

Yeah, here's my post from earlier in this thread.

Yeah, I just tried on devmenu and it's working now. In BBM, it was stopping after the very first file every time, so it never had a chance to check the other ones. Thanks again

Edit: Weird, after about halfway, I got an error with DevMenu. My only options were to retry or cancel. Retrying did not help, so I just cancelled it. After rebooting, my system and getting back to EmuNAND, I decided to try BBM again, and this time it worked! It was skipping about half of the files which had already been installed with DevMenu, and it finally completed. That is so weird. I can't explain it, but I'm definitely on emu9.5 now with no issues.

So I started with devmenu, it failed partway through, then I had to complete it with BBM. As for your question, I don't know if it has to be BBM. If devmenu goes all the way through for you, then congrats. Otherwise, you might need BBM to complete the process like I did. Good luck!

I followed tutorial from the first post and all went absolutely fine. I can boot to emuNAND just fine. However, if run cubicninja->FBI->Install CIA I always gets error message. Running pasta (to be precise cubicninja->pasta->cubicninja->FBI->Install CIA ) works just fine. However, with pasta, packages are installed on sysNAND, which makes use of ReiNAND completely pointless.

According to https://gbatemp.net/threads/installing-cias-in-reinand.393648/, a Devmenu was supposed to be copied to emuNAND during step 3, but I tried it guide 2 times - and all installed applications disappear after "format emunand".

Any tips on how to install .cia files to emuNAND from ReiNAND?
