I wish I had enough money that I could just throw 10 mill in the garbage for no reason and still be fine.
i wouldn't call OUYA underrated.... abomination is a better suited word.underrated
The only thing I don't get is why alibaba INVESTS that sort of money into ouya. Compared to the ouya's capital, I would think they could just take over the company.
But otherwise, it's not as stupid as an idea as many seem to make it out to be. Have you guys even read the article?
The two companies have discussed a plan to incorporate Ouya’s software and library of more than 1,000 games into Alibaba’s set-top box
The investment could help Ouya find new life in China, a market where gaming is primed for growth
Partnering with Ouya to expand its library of games could help Alibaba get its devices into more Chinese homes, where it can sell digital content and get more visitors to its online store.
Yeah...in the US and Europe, everyone's already stacking up the television consoles, and in the low-end segment, amazon's fire TV is tough competition. It's a whole different ball game in China. The console ban has just been lifted and the population isn't used to spending huge amounts of cash on consoles or games. A cheap console with many games is a much safer bet. So I'd think twice before laughing at how stupid alibaba's doing...it's not even unlikely they'll make a profit of this.

While thinking like that might make your purchase in an OUYA feel better, I'm afraid not everyone shares the same feelings.I'm guessing to you, the fact that it's not a PS/XB/Nin console makes it so? Not all of gaming revolves around the big three.

i'll enjoy it on my nexus 10...which i downloaded for freeNow if you excuse me, I'll go back to enjoying Oddworld: Stranger's Wrath on my OUYA.

You've made the assumption that I don't like the OUYA because it's not a high end machine.I don't need to "feel better" about my OUYA. I spent 104 on it and got more than my money's worth. I don't give two shits about ultra high end graphics. I like seeing consoles pushed within their means. The OUYA is a fine product and in some technical ways, better than Wii. Granted the two are neck and neck IMO. Now if you excuse me, I'll go back to enjoying Oddworld: Stranger's Wrath on my OUYA.
The ouya is more powerful than you could imagine! The tegra 3 gpu is better than a mali and adreno gpus (90% of the mobile devices have these)... And this is why the ouya have a "closed" game store! Because they want excluve games with exclusive graphics using the features of the nvidia tegra 3! You should watch the dead trigger demo showing tegra 3 vs non tegra!
I belive the ouya isn't dead! Its alive and they have a great future!
You would totally have a point if not for the fact that there are Tegra-based Android devices out there and Nvidia distributes games enhanced for Tegra chipsets on TegraZone. The OUYA doesn't have advantages in this regard, in fact, it's held back. Most mobile games are designed with a touchscreen in mind, so ports always suffer to some extent, ports being the majority of OUYA's library. The ouya is more powerful than you could imagine!
