Feelin really dumb right now. I'm looking for all of those really high production valued homebrews that pop up from time to time on the front page. Is there a depository for just the good stuff? :D

I would not dismiss the simple stuff, even though I was bored of it very early on I will still put a bit of time in on a Tron/light cycle game. Depending upon your quality requirements though you are likely in for a hard time as I am not really aware of any sites/features that go through homebrew how you might for game reviews or something, a handful for specific things like ( http://remaincalm.org/index.php/ds-music-apps ). Most people did eventually stop mirroring my first homebrew posts though (it got to be very tedious to do each justice) so it should not be too hard to pick out something good.

It includes a few ROM hacks for categorisation reasons but homebrew mentioned in the GBAGOTW and Recommends articles tends to be of high quality. For those also have a look at the suggestions from others in the articles, for several of those I also suggested homebrew alternatives but that might not be noted as clearly.
http://gbatemp.net/threads/links-to-various-gbatemp-features-over-the-years.352851/
There is also a recommends homebrew series on the same link.

Naturally have a look at the winners of contests here (GBAtemp homebrew bounty), the likes of the Neoflash contests and whatever else there may be (GBAdev ran several over the years).

Likewise it is not a sure fire solution (many versions, later mirrorings, remirroring and whatever else) but http://filetrip.net/nds-downloads/games/puzzle/ has the option to sort by downloads and we do tend to stick/pin the better examples.

Personal Favorites, still use them. They are top notch. (in no order)
x86 CPU emulator: Emulates old 268 dos games or even 386 if a supercard, great for testing/learning x86 ASM code! or for normal people to play games like Wolf3D, DOOM,etc (DSx86)
Fasttracker II: Nitro Tracker, make and listen to good music (think Synth style)
PocketPhysics: Fun Physics simulator, Lets you play with gravity!
Colors DS: Good drawing, great GUI, pressure sensitive.
GameYob: Great GB/C emulator, near perfect
SNEMULDS/ LOLSNES: SNES DS Is better but not for long, lolsnes will hopefully emulate DSP1 and make me happy.
XENOFILE: anything the ds can do, is here. universal file manager, and loader. needs moonshell installed, as it uses moonshell plugins in addition to its own. more moonshell plugins(AVI/GBC/GBA/NES/etc). Polished feature wise with ARGV and EXTLINK loading, gui could be better though.

There are manyyyy more good homebrew out there, a google search helps out. also Filetrips NDS section is helpful. It all depends on what you want to get accomplished or do. There are even multiple browsers for the DS that work quite well or Win2DS. Or drawing tools that let you export .avi of animations, playable in tuna-viDS.

Actually I was looking for actual homebrew games, that are very well made to the point they could pass for actual gba/ds games. Speaking of moonshell, I'd like to be able to boot ds titles. I followed the guide, but there's one file in the pack that when added, breaks moonshell. Another thing on the disappointment list is a pdf viewer. I tried loading up Hyrule Historia and it crashed. Is there a size limit?

Another World was ported to the GBA, and surpasses my expectations of what a GBA is capable of in terms of both graphics, AND gameplay. And that game is old as dirt, playable on a 25MHz 386 PC!

The Tetris the Grandmaster homebrew port looks and plays way better than any of the official Tetris games. Look it up and Google the file name because it got C&D'd a while back.

I would argue that POWDER is a better roguelike than most of the simpler ones that got released for the DS, despite lacking fancy graphics or any sort of sound. It can certainly provide dozens or hundreds of hours of gameplay, but I don't know if it's as polished as you'd like, or if you enjoy roguelikes at all.

Right, and I've looked there. But I 'm just looking for the creme of the crop :) And people don't always bother to rate the games they play.

@SylverReZ, atleast wiimmfii went fine although people only use it for Mario kart Wii
  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
At least if they ban you for cheating, get another Wii. They're cheap as chips.
    +1

Remember when RiiShop was a thing?
  • BakerMan @ BakerMan:
    not really
  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
It got shutdown because somebody "accidentally" leaked the database for the amount of people using the beta.
  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
RiiShop is the laziest way of downloading Wii games. Did somebody not think of this through?
  • BakerMan @ BakerMan:
although i ended up accidentally changing my nand with no way of going back bc i didn't know you needed a gamecube controller to restore it (i have a wii minus/1.1, which doesn't have gamecube controller support)
  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
@BakerMan, I think you're talking about the recovery mode that the SaveMii used, and also was to restore softbricked systems.
  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
If your NAND was hardbricked, then just buy another Wii. Or go with the dirty NAND flasher method.
  • BakerMan @ BakerMan:
and if i find the sd card i have my NAND backed up on, i can not only restore the NAND if i solder the right part in, but i can also put my NAND on dolphin, then i can play dolphin online, like PMEX Remix or MKWii Riibalanced
  • Xdqwerty @ Xdqwerty:
    Brb
  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
@BakerMan, Oh yeah, that was a thing too. Dolphin does support Wiimmfi.
  • BakerMan @ BakerMan:
yeah you just need to put your NAND backup with wiimmfi on it
  • BakerMan @ BakerMan:
ngl i feel like if a bunch of my friends have wiis and know how to get wiimmfi and back up their NAND, then we could do a PMEX Remix tournament
  • BakerMan @ BakerMan:
maybe even add UMVC3/DBFZ and make it a biathlon/triathlon

Too bad Excite Truck wasn't multi player :(
