And haven't you realized that I no longer give a damn about this bullshit conference and how it never should have been publicly announced in any of the threads of front page? It's of no use to people on GBA Temp at all. Period.

Hell and I bet you wouldn't even know that I don't give a shit about this conference. It never should have been mentioned on the Temp at all. Hear me out, I'm only saying this because since you said what they will discuss doesn't affect the average user but only hackers. With that said, there is no point in making a thread about this since most people here are end users and only a few are hackers.

If this was never announced, people would be better off not knowing about it and thus avoid getting their hopes up in the first place.

Now that would be freakin awesome :P

Really? You don't? The way you reply seem to indicate otherwise...
And yes it doesn't affect the end users anyway. But for others it may be interesting for them, simply for sport or just flat out knowing what the WiiU console is capable of. I honestly think that it bothers you because it's the fact that they've broken their wiiu console and can do the shit they want while the end users can't. And you're not the only one either, lots of people take the fact that they've broken their consoles and telling the others as a sign of elitism.
Again, it's called hacking for sport, they don't do it for the others but themselves, and if they want to, they may share the info about it if they want. However, do not expect them hacking stuff for the masses.

I'll laugh my ass off if Nintendo patches all possible exploits on the Wii U the day this conference goes on
... You know since they've blown the shit wide open, they can even disable automatic updates right? Joke's on you bro. If anything, they'll have the last laugh.
See? -»

I think I'm done on the subject, since your post indicates me that there really is no point in continuing further.

No, there is no point in continuing this escapade. Whatever happens, happens I guess.

Abstract:
About a year ago Nintendo released their latest video gaming console, the Wii U. Since 2006, the Wii has led to one of the most active homebrew scenes after its security system was completely bypassed. This talk will discuss the improvements made in Wii U's architecture and explain how it was broken in less than 31 days. The talk is targeted at those who hack (or design) embedded system security, but gamers might also find it interesting.

Description:
The talk will consist of several parts. First, we will discuss the Wii U: what it is, what makes it tick, and how it compares to its predecessor, the Wii.

Next, we will cover two different approaches that we used to attack the Wii U system. The focus will be on how our results were achieved instead of on what those results are, so you can reproduce the attacks at home. Along the way we'll describe the Wii U's security architecture.

The third and final part of the talk will cover where to go from here: What is broken, what is yet to be broken, things that still have to be done to create a viable homebrew ecosystem, the balance between the effort required and the reward for users and hackers, and the potential upsides and downsides of different approaches.

Basic knowledge of embedded systems and CPU architectures is recommended for attendees, although we will try to explain required concepts as we go along.

Before and after the talk we will also be available in the hackcenter for those who would like to discuss further details or embedded security in general.

Have fun speculating.

speculating ended on the first page - the next two pages were a dissertation on entitlement and the successful proof of concept that a large portion of the usb loader crowd, like dogs, can only see in black and white, no shades of gray.

Definitely sounds like it'll be an interesting piece. Watching similar talks in the past, some of the more in-depth info went a bit over my head, but still, interesting, and I've learnt a few things from them.

Not expecting you'll respond to any of this, but
so you can reproduce the attacks at home
I'm guessing you won't be revealing how just anyone can exploit their console to kernel level, though I'll be pleasantly surprised if you do. I'd expect something in line with what's available on 3dbrew, enough information to recreate the attack if you know enough and are willing to put in some effort yourself.

Hmm, what a sudden change of personality eh?
he kicked and he pouted until someone important came out.

and while i give him some credit for realizing that any attention, even negative attention is still attention, i have little to no faith in him ever being introspective and self-aware enough to realize that none of his enthusiasm, vitriol or even his apathy impacts or influences the hacking the wiiu even one bit.

Good to see that I wasn't the only one seeing this, but I digress.
I'm particularly interested in how the WiiU works internally. I'm also wondering how it'll be viable for homebrew.

seconded... and though i understand why it gets a little incestuous and cannibalistic in here when theres no wiiu hacks to occupy ourselves with, just vwii, i truly and honestly dont understand the logic of turning the hate towards the devs, the only people who could actually give you what you are after.

be happy with what you have, stfu about what you dont...the squeaky wheel will only get the raised hackles here.

If they're such great people as everyone's saying, and not in it "for the publicity" and shit, then why the hell did they tease everyone?

*Nyaa nyaa nyaa nyaa nyaa nyaa, we think we're better than you and have actually not helped at aaaaalllll*

Edit: It's more like they have two options with their findings and exploits. "Go Public and prove it" or "Don't go public and be teh l33t quiet hax0r"

They didn't want either. They want their cake and to eat it too. That shit won't fly with me.
