Since I got tired of many people reading all posts in previous topic (Workarounds for Firmware 4.2, so far)
and not listening to the fact they should only follow the guide on the first post and ending up with a (semi-)brick I decided to make a complete guide. The guide is fresh made, so any typo's outdated/missing or wrong info is possible. Please don't hesitate to tell me if you found anything that's missing/outdated or wrong so I can update the guide. Feedback would be appreciated. October 2nd: v1.1 released October 2nd: v1.0 released Password to pdf file is: Amarokz Appearently there are some flaws in the guide (due to me smoking too much...) I will be updating the guide this sunday oct 4th. Just pay attention to the following things in the guide: -Switch Page 8 and 9 around, ie. Install cIOS38 Rev14 first and after that run DOP-IOS -Working WAD for Neogamma - Download here -Wad Manager 1.5 for the WAD Installation part - Download here -When booting Wad Manager to install the Wads, there will be a question for NAND emulation, select the "disable" option. Thanks to the people that gave a feedback to my guide. Guide can be downloaded here

Happy Modding! Cheers! -Ama®ok Note: It's still NOT RECOMMENDED to update your Wii to 4.2 as all it does is give you a hard time installing homebrew This post has been edited by Amarok: Oct 3 2009, 01:44 AM |

Anyone??
I got the HBC on a virgin 4.2, I used Waninkoko's cIOS38 rev14 installer. Tried all different IOSes (249, 38, 37, 250) and didn't work. What did work was this. Selected IOS70, patched and worked. Selected IOS250, patched and worked. Now, I don't know if the cIOS is installed as IOS249, or 250 or 70??? But I got USB loader working after that. Ideas, anyone?? It is most likely to be installed as IOS249 but is 250 or 70 trucha signed? If not, how can I do it? I want my SD menu working. This post has been edited by BBking83: Oct 2 2009, 03:46 AM |

Cause you said to post any further Qs here.
I thought it would have been ignored in the other thread and is a possible other "work around" for 4.2. The SD menu says "failed to launch" when I try to play/launch and VC/WiiWare title and when 4.0 came out and we needed to patch IOS60 to get around that. Why won't you just use ninty update and start all over? |

Don't know, as for now don't install preloader on your 4.2 because it can brick you. Just wait for crediar to release a new preloader. |

You can install preloader if you want, but use it at your own risk. Use DOP-IOS to patch IOS36 with trucha so you can install preloader Posts merged Further questions about the guide yeah. Why won't you just use ninty update and start all over? I spose it isn't really a Q about the guide but a Q about how I can get the SD menu to work and have an alternative guide. Sorry, I'll ask somewhere else. As I said. Just use nintendo updater or wanin's updater and re-softmod your wii, should fix the problem. What app did you use to patch your IOS70 and IOS250? |

I want to play around with my Wii as little as possible. Thing is, I don't think they are patched. I'm trying to find out what I did. I think all I did was installed the cIOS rev14 as 249, which got USB loader working. The app I used was Waninkoko's cIOS38 rev14 installer and selected IOS70, then 250. That's all I've done since I got the HBC on my virgin 4.2. Thanks for your help though. Appreciated. |

Correct me if im wrong, and what do you mean with you selected 70 and then 250? You can only choose which IOS to use once in the installer |
