Can I physically connect 2 ps4 consoles with CFW to each other to let 2 people play the same game on 2 tv's? I seem to remember the ps2 or ps3 allowing this? Maybe with a CAT cable, or linked together by wifi?

The 2 ps4's have 7.55 and 5.05 on them.

Thanks for any answers!

ethernet cable is probably for a system transfer without going wireless. that's how it is with the ps3. other than that, I've personally never heard of this.

Thanks for the responses.

I remember a commercial or tv gaming show where some FPS was running on two consoles simultaneously with two TV's. I could swear they were wired together, cause it was so long ago, high speed wifi wasn't available... I remember they were making a big deal of no split screen, each screen was full view.
Can't remember the game they were playing, Doom maybe or COD or MGS?

Thanks MicroNut!
That is a pretty impressive list.
I might try to see if I can get two hacked ps4's to play together COD.
This will be interesting.
If a ps4 does it, the ps4 pro must also allow this?

Is anyone here old enough to remember playing games on the awesome Atari 2600?
When it came out...
Pitfall, Asteroids, space invaders...
I ruined 3 joysticks.

Yes. I got one for Christmas when they first came out.
There was a junk yard near my house that had a large mountain of scrapped Atari joysticks.
Me and my friends would sneak in and steal a bunch of them to make our own.
Eventually I ended up using a quarter on the flat board of the Atari PCB as a very early d-pad.
Punching the fire button was much easier but the quarter would often slip.

Cool.
You'll still need to use something like Hamachi to replace the PSN by creating your own local network host for the game.
Computers are fun!

I have to try that. Where to get a good copy of Hamachi for the ps4?

I can try it I guess, does this work on lower FW? Like 7.55?

And then to be sure, you STILL need one of the LAN enabled games from the list above to make this work.

I've only recently read about this monster. I think I skipped after looking at the price.

I am still happy with my Vita which I really use as a super powered psp... Vita games are ok.

@SylverReZ if you could find a v5 DS ML you would have the best of both worlds since the v5 units had the same backlight brightness levels as the DS Lite unlockable with flashme

A woman with no arms and no legs was sitting on a beach. A man comes along and the woman says, "I've never been hugged before." So the man feels bad and hugs her. She says "Well i've also never been kissed before." So he gives her a kiss on the cheek. She says "Well I've also never been fucked before." So the man picks her up, and throws her in the ocean and says "Now you're fucked."

anyways, we need to re-normalize physical media

if i didn't want my games to be permanent, then i'd rent them

Agreed, that why I try to buy all my games on disc, Xbox anyways. Switch games (which I pirate tbh) don't matter much, I stay offline 24/7 anyways.

@BakerMan - you can still "own" digital media, arguably easier and better than physical since you can make copies and backups, as much as you like.

    The issue is DRM
  • cearp @ cearp:
You can buy drm free games / music / ebooks, and if you keep backups of your data (like documents and family photos etc), then you shouldn't lose the game. but with a disk, your toddler could put it in the toaster and there goes your $60

    :rofl2:
  • cearp @ cearp:
still, I agree physical media is nice to have. just pointing out the issue is drm
  • rqkaiju2 @ rqkaiju2:
i like physical media because it actually feels like you own it. thats why i plan on burning music to cds
  • cearp @ cearp:
It's nice to not have to have a lot of physical things though, saves space
