There's a new system update for the Wii U for version 5.5.5U

Are you ready for a system software update? No, not for the Nintendo Switch, but the Wii U! It's been quite a while since we've seen one of these--the last update was issued in September of 2018, in fact. A brand new firmware update is available for the console, bringing it to version number 5.5.5. The official changelog is helpful as usual, giving us that magical sentence we can always expect from Nintendo. Keep an eye on this thread and hopefully we'll find out what exactly this update actually brings to the table.

Improvements to system stability and usability
  • Further improvements to overall system stability and other minor adjustments have been made to enhance the user experience.

Kirby and the Rainbow curse! (dunno I love that game)
Yoshi's Woolly World; played some of it, but never had enough motivation to finish it.
There's also Super Smash Bros. 4, if you want to experience SSB history. Nintendo Land's a decent party game; too bad it uses dysfunctional Wii motion controls...

Did the Update a few Minutes ago and can not remember a flickering LED....

Over the 10h that I played on me Wii U I never figured out what it is.
Also to lazy to do anything about it since I never touch the thing tbf.

I honestly wonder why I still have it connected to the power and me telly.

Chances are that they're just removing features, or adding triggers to do so, ahead of the time when certain licenses expire. The system is EOL, no new software is coming out and the user base is dead, I can't imagine one good reason to actively work on "improving system stability".

Firmware 5.5.5 doesn't fix anything related to homebrew. However, it does appear that some of N's SSL verification code was changed. (SSL allows a device to makes secure + verified connections to remote servers. It's what powers the "padlock" icon in your browser.)

I don't know if this has to do with the update or not, but since I updated the Netflix app it hasn't stopped or crashed my Wii U anymore.

I was able to watch an entire season in 1080p without any problem either, before that the Wii U always stopped in the middle of the epi and the control took a long time to respond again.

You can use Netflix until June 2021. Support for 3ds and Wii U stops in June.

Sell it to me at a decent price.

Red blinking LED = vent obstruction or other cooling-related issue, at least most commonly. Disconnecting the power supply and a good dusting normally solves this, it's not a major problem. Alternatively it could be a PSU fault (check readings on the output) or a loose HDMI connection (check port to see if it's loose, but usually it's a kink in the cable or a worn out plug). The least likely problem you might have is a motherboard issue, probably somewhere down the power distribution line, but the console uses so little power that it doesn't happen that often and usually you can scratch that off the list early on.

Orange blinking LED.
Wii U itself is perfectly fine.

I think Game streaming should work like this.... Local Hardware able the run the game fine, game engine and common assets stored locally, all FMV and music and textures could be streaming

Or free government supplied high speed internet be nice also. Like Obama care. Xdqwerty that's cool, its time consuming but rewarding once done or playable, to see what you've made from scratch. Animations take forever, but worth it.

    @BigOnYa,
and the visual aspect of the game is quite crude (the sprite that looks best is that of the protagonist just because he is a stickman with sunglasses)

  • BigOnYa @ BigOnYa:
There is a bullets behaviour you assign to your character, that makes the code easier, under "behaviours"
  • Xdqwerty @ Xdqwerty:
i meant that when the character is pointing to the right, the bullets spawn where they should, but when he is on the right, they move to the right but the spawn point is incorrect
  • BigOnYa @ BigOnYa:
Itch.io has lots of free assets also. Under the bullets behavior tab, there is a "rotate bullets" option, can try that. Or in the code can try
    - fire bullet Player.X(PlayerDirection)

That's cool tho, I'm proud of you going back to it, not giving up. It is difficult at first to learn, but fun once you get the hang of it. I think I've watched every tutorial video there is, but I still struggle sometimes to get stuff to work right. But gotta keep trying dif things, and eventually you will get it right.
