nnu patcher. it's unlikely you'll ever be able to use haxchi without buying a ds game, because installing the game through wup will result in a fake ticket. you need sig patches to use fake tickets, which is what you're booting haxchi for.
That's what i'm afraid of since eventually the online servers/eshop will close down on the nintendo wii u and then unless someone figures out something there will be wii u systems with no permanent offline haxchi mod.

there's a signature patcher standalone elf that will do the same thing. you just need to user browser hax to boot up the homebrew launcher, then from there boot the elf. a bit tedious, but I believe it will stay in memory until you turn off or reboot the system.

But install haxchi on lower firmware, to make it easy.
it doesn't matter anymore, 5.5.3 and 5.5.4 now have a reliable and 100% success browserhax entry point too.

It's just easier to disable all DNS and filters
then update officially (no more need of NNU and/or spoofing, and games will even work online and have autoupdate!)
now access eshop easily to get your game :)
install haxchi by using latest and stable browserhax.

or the guide I rewrote (follow step1+2): https://gbatemp.net/threads/guide-community-noob-guide-to-wii-u-hacking.451297/

If you really want to prevent future updates, you could delete the "update" folder using ftpiiu. there's a guide for that too.

you just need to user browser hax to boot up the homebrew launcher,
Yep, there's even a trick to autoboot an URL at browser launch, so it acts exactly like haxchi's HBL launcher, except it's not offline. you need the network to access the script (but you can host it yourself on local servers).
it won't have the multi button setup, but it can launch HBL in one click. from there you just run CFW patchers manually (sigpatch2sysmenu is the best for that), and run miimaker to return to HBL until you shutdown the console (or go to settings or launch vwii)

talking about sigpatch2sysmenu i was wondering i now know rednand cant load up vcwii games but if install the game on rednand reboot load up S2S on the sys nand would the game work (im too lazy to try it myself so just gonna ask) if yes i might just stay with rednand because im literally just doing this to play one game ... and brain age in 8 bucks

If you reboot and don't run Mocha, then you're not on RedNAND anymore (so the game won't be there), and if you ran Mocha to get into RedNAND, you don't need s2s.
when i install games on my HDD from my rednand i still see it after rebooting my system back to normal sys nand i guess becuase my nands are linked i dont know but when i try to launch it it says something about incorrect Nintendo account re download it but i never tried loading up homebrew and running S2S and seeing if it the game works

probably missing its ticket. may have to be unlinked (not sure), but each NAND will have its own ticket database. the indexer may be linked between the two.

I've never heard of that app, so I don't know. what I'd usually do was just install the game or app on both NANDs. I don't know if my redNAND even still works, but it's on my card. it's pretty much a waste of time to use redNAND. the NAND builder skips over certain parts of sysNAND resulting in an incomplete build. I think that's why some people's redNAND suddenly becomes corrupted.

ive read that before to install it on both and yeah i know rednand is not the best option but it;s given be no problems through out the years so i really dont wanna fix what isnt broken  but i also know the wiiu eshop not gonna be open forever so my window of coldbooting is closing most likely after the 5.4 fw gets a full release

the way the ticket bucket works is very confusing. I'm not sure how it determines where the ticket is to be stored. I mean you have breath of the wild and crunchyroll in the same file.

Bro it totally works LMAO :D i just needed to install it once on sys nand then load up sigpatch2sysmenu and the wii vc game run perfectly. I know i cant do this on Rednand because it dont have access to vwii so the system would just reboot.... wait so if i installed all my games this way i wouldnt even need rednand hmmmmm

yes, redNAND is no longer needed unless you want to fiddle with the flash without risk. I think if you try going into the vwii on redNAND it will say something about the system files being corrupted. I tested it once a while back.

wait just found out i have to reinstall all my games on sysnand to make them work outside of rednand ... oh hell nah i guess im staying with rednand. I will eventually buy brain age from the eshop and install cfw/cold boot but no rush now that i found a work around. I think when i eventually make the change i will have to reinstall everything anyways right

I actually wrote down every game I have installed separated between legit (actually own 76 games) and cfw stuff. that way I'll know what to reinstall if my external hdd fails.

brain age is only $6.99 in the usa. it was free under certain circumstances for people in europe. anyway, yeah, it would suck having to reinstall everything. I don't know what would happen if you injected redNAND tickets on to sysNAND. not sure if ftpii everywhere would even work, since one version works for mocha and the other for haxchi/cbhc. it may be possible with wup, which can create an ftp link on the home menu (no app). it's slow as hell though. it can take two or three minutes to transfer 5MBs.

--------------------- MERGED ---------------------------

I just thought of something that may be even better: extract redNAND with sdio, then use your otp to decrypt the slc. I may have tried doing this (not sure), but you could get to the tickets much more quickly that way. however, I don't know what will happen if you inject them. not sure if it would work.

I'm not sure. I dumped all of my save files with system config tool. they're compatible with saviine and that other save app, just more information is dumped with system config tool like the icon of the save, etc. I never really played too much on redNAND, so I've never tried it, but I believe if you were to dump them on redNAND they would work on sysNAND too.

@Jayro, I don't see whats so special about the DS ML, its just a DS lite in a phat shell. At least the phat model had louder speakers, whereas the lite has a much better screen.

@SylverReZ if you could find a v5 DS ML you would have the best of both worlds since the v5 units had the same backlight brightness levels as the DS Lite unlockable with flashme

A woman with no arms and no legs was sitting on a beach. A man comes along and the woman says, "I've never been hugged before." So the man feels bad and hugs her. She says "Well i've also never been kissed before." So he gives her a kiss on the cheek. She says "Well I've also never been fucked before." So the man picks her up, and throws her in the ocean and says "Now you're fucked."

anyways, we need to re-normalize physical media

if i didn't want my games to be permanent, then i'd rent them

Agreed, that why I try to buy all my games on disc, Xbox anyways. Switch games (which I pirate tbh) don't matter much, I stay offline 24/7 anyways.

    I don't pirate them, I Use Them :mellow:. Like I do @BigOnYa 's couch :tpi::evil::rofl2:

  • cearp @ cearp:
@BakerMan - you can still "own" digital media, arguably easier and better than physical since you can make copies and backups, as much as you like.

    The issue is DRM
  • cearp @ cearp:
You can buy drm free games / music / ebooks, and if you keep backups of your data (like documents and family photos etc), then you shouldn't lose the game. but with a disk, your toddler could put it in the toaster and there goes your $60

    :rofl2:
  • cearp @ cearp:
still, I agree physical media is nice to have. just pointing out the issue is drm
  • rqkaiju2 @ rqkaiju2:
i like physical media because it actually feels like you own it. thats why i plan on burning music to cds
  • cearp @ cearp:
It's nice to not have to have a lot of physical things though, saves space
