2017 is coming to a close, and it's time to remember all of the great titles that released this year. Our Game of the Year voting thread will be a bit different this year, to allow for more games to have a moment in the spotlight, and to separate releases by console, for a more even style of voting and representation. And with that, we'll be starting out with the games that released for Sony's PlayStation 4. Games that were released on multiple platforms will also appear if they launched on, or had a 2017 release on the PS4.

P5 is 2016 game, it got WHOOPED by overwatch
Sonic is 1998, it got STOMPED by Zelda

I don't usually like to take sides in things like these but yea this has gotten a wee bit out of hand.

P5 was released in Japan in Sept 2016. We all agree on that. Nobody is denying that fact. However, the version that we (as a majority) use to evaluate is the Western release, which was released in 2017. Hence, its inclusion here. That's all there is to it.

I'd like to think that you are trolling because the other alternative is.......

As stated earlier, Crash bandicoot N. Sane trilogy was a REMAKE (not remaster) of the entire trilogy from the ground up. I encourage you to go look into the development of the n. Sane trilogy sometime, as it'll probably help you understand why it's in this vote. Not only did it include all three of the original games, but it also added time trials, an extra playable character, and even an extra level that wasn't directly accessible in the original crash bandicoot (it was accessible through hacking however).

Crash was NOT a 'remake' its the exact same game as the first one they just had to rebuild it from the ground up because they lost all assets, but going by that logic why isn't Wind Waker HD not the 2013 GOTY if they had to do the same thing and build it from the ground up? Or Twilight Princess?

Kingdom Hearts was also build from the ground up again because they lost all assets, it doesn't make it a NEW game. 2.8 prologus easily beats crash nsane

There's no point in arguing with you. Even after I give you a definition, you still disagree and say "noes it's not a remake cuz the gameplay wasn't changedz". Remakes don't have to have a major gameplay change, as seen in the definition I gave you. As long as the game is built from the ground up with brand new code and new assets it's technically a remake. And also the gameplay is actually slightly different in the remake when compared to the original crash games due to having different in game physics when, for example, crash is jumping.

By your definition, Kingdom Hearts REMAKE and Wind Waker REMAKE are NEW games too then? So why weren't they ever nominated for any kind of subjective award? What about final fantasy 12? That's a remake too
