Hacking Are you updating your Switch with the New Super Mario?

I bought my Switch for the 3.0.0 security holes, but updated for eight player Bomberman with 4.0.0. In my case adding support for the Gamecube adapter was an absolute killer-argument, I love this game ever since I got the original for the Gameboy back in the early 90s.

I buy the games I like, anyways, guess I'll have to start opening them and use the actual carts till another exploit is found.

Im on the fence as I have a 2.x system.

Ive got the game because of a deal but Im not sure whether to update or not to play it.

The Switch could end up like the 3ds where the most recent is exploitable, the Wii U where the most recent was exploitable but at the end of its life or the PS4 which was released but only for old firmware.

I bought a second Switch to play newer games including Super Mario Odyssey. This game is so much fun.

You really think with how much effort nintendo are putting into the success of the switch you will be pirating games in 1 year or 2? Their is SM hax(0.0001% of switch users with the FW, 0.00000001% that can actually exploit SM Hax), their will be a couple of emulators in early devolopment at best. Their is absolutely 0% chance you will be able to pirate games within that time frame and safely update your switch. Ive played odyssey and its an 11/10 game, its like the ocarina of time of marios. Do as you wish , but I've decided not to wait around for the distant future when the present is this good, if your waiting for piracy be ready for another 5 years wait, when they stop switch updates.

I don't actually think I'll be pirating games in a year or two. I was playing devil's advocate.

I m always on the newest version. Don’t really care about those early hax anymore.

Plus I have my 3ds hacked, so I don't really want another hacked console ATM.

Of course i will update. In fact i already updated my console. I have already lot of other consoles that i can use for homebrew and piracy. So many free games that it's not enjoyable anymore.... Have fun waiting.

I hope You realize that most of the active members originally came here for hacks but stay around because of the community. Not everyone is here for hacks 24/7. And besides, you assumed I'm not interested in hacks at all. I have a hacked 3ds, so I'm still clearly interested in new Homebrew for it. Plus just because I don't want another hacked console doesn't mean I'm not interested in the switch and Vita hacking scenes as some pretty cool stuff has come out of both of them.

For now I'll be waiting for the upcoming 34c3 in December to see if there is any new progress in Switch hacking. That's when I'll make my update decision (besides, there are other games I haven't finished playing).

I was lucky enough to get a Switch that was on 3.0. Initially I was planning on sticking it out for homebrew but the more and more I thought about it, the less it made sense to me as I really didn't wanna have to wait years for another exploit on some higher firmware in order to play games like Super Mario Odyessey, or Xenoblade Chronicles 2 etc. I ended up giving in and just updated the damn thing
