Finished it today with a total amount of 8hrs.

I really enjoyed the anime visuals, gameplay and voice acting in English but the long text boxes were the one thing I usually skipped through so I realise I didn't play Disgaea how I should have.

The jist of the story:

With the help of his army of soldiers known as The Lost, the Demon Emperor Void Dark has been devastating numerous Netherworlds. The Overlords ruling those Netherworlds, desperate to defeat Void Dark, begin an unlikely alliance to save all the Netherworlds.

Disgea Wiki

Even though I did skip a hella lot dialogue boxes, there was one that stood out (which I've not pointed out before).

So anyway, it felt like the game ended pretty quickly for me albeit, there are still side quests I could do but not really interested in those.

Fun game to have on the Switch. :)

Liar! It takes normally around 30 hours...unless they severely drop the eniemes stats for the switch version
Things I skipped:
  • Text boxes
  • Many in-game cutscene animations
  • etc
Well, maybe I haven't yet finished it even though I've seen the ending credits. A PS4 Disgaea 5 walkthrough states the game has 16 chapters:

1.050 - Chapter 5 - Icic-Hell
1.060 - Chapter 6 - Dragon Fang
1.070 - Chapter 7 - Sandcano
1.080 - Chapter 8 - Dark Testament
1.090 - Chapter 9 - Scorching Flame
1.100 - Chapter 10 - Toto Bunny
1.110 - Chapter 11 - Toto Bunny Castle
1.120 - Chapter 12 - Fortress de Gaulle
1.130 - Chapter 13 - Flowerful
1.140 - Chapter 14 - Gorgeous
1.150 - Chapter 15 - Outer Dark Demise
1.160 - Chapter 16 - Inner Dark Demise

On the Switch it has different chapter names so it's hard to take this chapter list into comparison. That said, even if it's accurate then why did it show the ending credits?

Are you crazy ? That's too much!! I won't finish the game like this for 8 hours. It really a waste time. Yeah, I will play my game at least 2 hours a day or less to make my lifestyle healthier, you know. It is best for me to go out for a drinking at a bar, and hanging out with friends, and be social at first. What's happened to your life ?!?! Tone down, boy, tone down, boy. :) Jeez.

Therefore, try to complete this game 100 percent. So it won't be 8 hours at least. :)

I'll try but how do I move to the next episode now?

Lol, I am like eleven hours in and still not past Episode 3.
Talk about hurrying your way skipping story and gameplay elements.
Can't wait to unlock the item world already... Well, whenever I'm out of the office.

The text boxes take forever so I can't be bothered to go through all of them.

Quite a few Japanese games I have played seem to want to play credits after every chapter or something.

Did the controls get better? I played it with the pro controller for a little while during that press thing and playing all those ones on the DS with the touchscreen, or on the PC with a mouse, or the GBA with a nice dpad, seems to have spoiled me a bit.

I've played numerous strategy RPGs in my time, such as FF Tactics on PS1 long ago (first ever strategy/tactics game), the FFTAs on GBA/DS, recent Fire Emblem games, and even Stella Glow. Yet, I've only finished the first episode of Disgaea 5 Complete (first Disgaea game for me), and I feel overwhelmed by what can be done in it. Others felt straight-forward. This......this is a lot for me to take in.

Any tips with it?

@SylverReZ, I also heard one of the Prince of Persia games was so unfinished that it required the "24/7 online" drm so a puzzle could be done and the game could be finished. And that when the Ubisoft servers were closed the (cracked) game was impossible to finish or something like that
  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
@Xdqwerty, That's extra scummy. Ubisoft nowadays ship out incomplete games like Skull and Bones which was being worked on for nearly a decade now.

I like that games can be fixed after the fact, hate that it's being abused via beta tests... And DLC... I was a 7800 owner back in the day and loved Impossible Mission, turns out I couldn't beat it because it was actually impossible lol

I never knew about it at the time but a fixed version was available but you had to mail in your broken copy lol

So that version is semi rare
