I have a retail BR cart with CQ and RV, and a Special Edition download, both US.
If we're counting the versions I have via CIA, I also have a JP Special Edition, JP Fanslation, and EUR Special Edition as well.
Ok, Luma3DS setup for layeredfs is;
sd:/luma/titles/<titleID>/romfs/<stuffhere>
For the USA versions, BR's title ID is 0004000000179400, CQ is 0004000000179600 and SE is 0004000000179800
So if we wanted to test out a CQ route hack on BR base game, place this romfs folder on;
sd:/luma/titles/0004000000179400/
Note that the CQ chapter 6 is already ingame despite not having the DLC, so we're doing a 2 part test on CQ, a chapter 6 hack, to ensure the hack is loading, and a chapter 7 hack to test if DLC route hacking works with Luma3DS.
Remember that this is Luma3DS v7.0+ only, and remember to enable game patching!
Just pick branch of Fate and use these files, it'll be very obvious that the game is being tampered with.

Are there any obvious changes in CQ chapter 6? It's been forever since I first played CQ.
I'm not seeing any changes in Chapter 6, neither in my Special Edition or my Birthright cartridge.
Same. I even did a side-by-side comparison, with the hacked game and a clean copy, no changes.
Did you enable game patching in Luma3DS settings?

Chapter 7 did not load the extra characters on BR base game. @DeathChaos25 It looks like it just might work on the SE.

Ok, I still have one trick up my sleeve.
Download this totally not code.bin file and place it in the same directory as the romfs folder, so it'd be
sd:/luma/titles/0004000000179400/totallynotcode.bin/
Same, getting chapter 6, but not 7. Downloading code.bin now.
