Nintendo announces the New 2DS XL

Coming out of absolutely nowhere, Nintendo has revealed a new variation of the 2DS...the New 2DS XL! The system features a top screen that looks almost like a cell phone snapped onto the bottom of a 3DS. It has the extra processing power of the N3DS, amiibo functionality, and the C-stick nub, while, just like the original 2DS, omits the 3D feature of the handheld. The New 2DS XL will release on July 28, and retail for $149.99.

They could have literally been printing money by keeping the NES classic in production for at least the rest of the year, instead more fucking around with a 2DS no one asked for.
Nintendo in a nutshell, don't give people what they want, and gives people things they never asked for.

I think Nintendo has always taken these Pink Floyd lyrics to heart:

"and did we tell you the name of the game-boy? we call it riding the gravy traaaaain!"

considering how i feel this is a response to sighax and nothing more it's too late we have 2 million + vulnerable (forgot what was the exact number said at cc3c) units any person slightly into Homebrew/Piracy won't get this (or buy a secondary handheld that is vulnerable) I can see dev's like smealum and others (both anti and pro piracy) buy a few to try to crack open btw oddly looks like the ORAS Pokedex

It's sexy™ and it's price is the same for a brand new smartphone™, so why not to buy it™? Absolutely a steal™!
Before anyone quotes me on that: 3D™ hurts my eyes really badly. I feel intense eye pain after watching a 3D 1h30mins movie.
Something tells me you were paid by Nintendo™ Of™ America™ to post this

I disagree with it being sexy very much, it's the opposite for me. Also I wouldn't be the type of person to buy a 150$ smartphone. I had no problem with the 3D, and I primarily OWN a 2DS. I still wouldn't buy this.

I don't know why, but I really hate it when a major announcement happens out of nowhere, like the New 2DS XL. Couldn't they put it in a direct? It seems more appropriate. Yet of course, that would mean waiting possibly longer for the announcement...

The WiiU bombed hard so Nintendo will milk the hell out of 3DS until it gives out. :P
The Wii U was designed to fail just to push 3DS sales and the Switch which was their true plan all along.

I don't know how Nintendo expected the Wii U to be a success with no marketing, a confusing name (I don't think the XBOX ONE is a good name for a console either, but that was hyped and marketed like there's no tomorrow), a lack of games until half way through the consoles life, and an initial model which couldn't install a full Wii U game that wasn't a port or remake.

Nice.
Still not going to pay for N3DS XL Orange/Black which costs 1k when i can grab a n2ds xl instead :P
Check local used electronics stores if you can. I got my SM3DL N3DS (which did have the game) at a local store for $140 Canadian. They also had a lot of N3DS XLs for $150, and the price of a new N3DS XL is $240ish.
