for portable emulation.

I mean,
nvidia gpu.
many different controller adaptions/configurations.
awesome pick up and go of the switch. adapted to emulators alike!!!! would be so cool.

nuff said. this thing will probably run n64/psx. without even trying. and it will all be super easy to port too. if the information gathered is to be correct anyway.

in a perfect world i'd love for homebrew and emulators to come out. but for once, for developers to unitedly say: "fuck pirates!" and not make any backup loaders whatsoever. But I know that's just wishful thinking. I just really want Nintendo to Succeed with the Switch. I love this system.

And modded with emulators... this thing will be SO MUCH FUN.

Well i mean for ppsspp, still has SOME issues with it, one in particular was playing that hitman reborn game. The character on the right side would have the control inputs reversed so the Cpu wouldn't fight properly :P

You're comparing a 13 year old device with ~20 year old technology against a brand new device with ~2 year old technology.
No fucking shit it's better.
Somebody missed the point hard.
lol
-It's obvious the Switch is newer technology. I'm talking about we finally have a system that can match. or even do better in a portable atmosphere besides the psp. -

sooooo were you around when the psp was booming or nah?

Im assuming no. Because if you were. you'd understand what this means for the potential "scene" of the Switch. The psp bar none had the best scene ever for a console. and why is that? because hacked the psp was a damn powerhouse.

The Switch has the ability to easily eclipse it. and that's exciting.

That is exactly what I meant with the post I made earlier...

It can run gc too. It's pretty much confirmed for Vc. Also, they tested dolphin on the shield and it worked flawlessly so
citation needed! - lol i'm kidding. but is dolphin confirmed to run "flawlessly" on shield?

Also vc gc is still a rumor. until proven otherwise.

oh? I thought you were being a snarky bastard. - my mistake. moving on! lol

And if Nintendo published official GC VC,you can even inject your own games and will run even better
this is guaranteed. as nintendo will most likely make their own emulator. or reuse the code from the wii one.

the wii wasn't hardware emulation was it? I don't think so. not sure.

Why do people make these threads every time a POC of a hack is shown for a new or currently not hacked device? This is the kind of crap that clutters gbatemp along side; shit posting, asking the same questions over and over, reporting false news, necro-posting, and much more that isn't needed here.

The Wii isn't hardware emulation, nor is it emulation at all tbh. The Wii is literally a more powerful GameCube so it can natively run GC games.

Again, it's closer/akin to VM vs an emulator; emulation with 100% compatibility would be impossible.
That's why I said it wasn't an emulator. Though what you just said is equivalent to saying that Windows 10 uses a VM to run Windows 7 programs. What happens on the Wii with GC games is that the Wii just is able to run GC games directly, no emulation, no virtualization or anything like that. It just plainly runs it. If you want something closer to a VM on a Nintendo console, you can take a look at the vWii from the Wii U though.

@Jayro, I don't see whats so special about the DS ML, its just a DS lite in a phat shell. At least the phat model had louder speakers, whereas the lite has a much better screen.

They probably said "Hey, why not we combine the two together and make a 'new' DS to sell".

It's a DS Lite in a slightly bigger DS Lite shell.

    It's not a Nintendo / iQue official product, it's a 3rd party custom.

@SylverReZ if you could find a v5 DS ML you would have the best of both worlds since the v5 units had the same backlight brightness levels as the DS Lite unlockable with flashme

A woman with no arms and no legs was sitting on a beach. A man comes along and the woman says, "I've never been hugged before." So the man feels bad and hugs her. She says "Well i've also never been kissed before." So he gives her a kiss on the cheek. She says "Well I've also never been fucked before." So the man picks her up, and throws her in the ocean and says "Now you're fucked."

anyways, we need to re-normalize physical media

if i didn't want my games to be permanent, then i'd rent them

Agreed, that why I try to buy all my games on disc, Xbox anyways. Switch games (which I pirate tbh) don't matter much, I stay offline 24/7 anyways.
  • AncientBoi @ AncientBoi:
    I don't pirate them, I Use Them :mellow:. Like I do @BigOnYa 's couch :tpi::evil::rofl2:

  • cearp @ cearp:
@BakerMan - you can still "own" digital media, arguably easier and better than physical since you can make copies and backups, as much as you like.

    The issue is DRM
  • cearp @ cearp:
You can buy drm free games / music / ebooks, and if you keep backups of your data (like documents and family photos etc), then you shouldn't lose the game. but with a disk, your toddler could put it in the toaster and there goes your $60

    :rofl2:
  • cearp @ cearp:
still, I agree physical media is nice to have. just pointing out the issue is drm
  • rqkaiju2 @ rqkaiju2:
i like physical media because it actually feels like you own it. thats why i plan on burning music to cds
