OP
Nintendo made a really cool Epona bike for Mario Kart 8 (amazing DLC content!) and it'd suit travelling around the BotW map so who knows, maybe Nintendo will reconsider and add it later. Also, the Epona bike would be way faster than Epona the Horse (sorta reminds me the Sonic names :P).

How is Link in Mario Kart any less out of place?

Mario Kart is not a game to be taken very seriously. You can fuck around with the logic of those games all you want. Zelda games, while fun as well, has some inherit logic that has been constant across the series.

1v1 me MK7 no cheats
But why? The winning aspect or the "story"?
I just like to have something to rage on, like blue shells. :gun:

@Saiyan Lusitano is that one of those inward drifting bikes? I haven't used one in awhile and never really got the hang of them. Need to work on that.

Lol no.
I think that would be over the top and out of place.
In MK it works because its a racing game.
I do think it would of been fun to have a horse in MK.
But a bike in Zelda just isnt going to be good

I take my Mario Kart very seriously.

I'm not saying that we don't get super competitive or into the races. I just mean the logic of what they're racing, where they're racing, who they're racing with, the items they use, etc. etc. There is a lot of leniency there in the Mario Kart games in terms of what the developers can implement and not seem incredibly jarring. Honestly, Link and his bike probably are the most jarring additions to Mario Kart, yet because its just a kart racer, however out of place they may appear, its real easy to look past and accept. However an actual motorcycle to ride around in a Zelda game would be incredibly out of place and much harder to look past and accept.

Have we not had trains?

A motorcycle is a large technological leap from trains. Zelda games have had boats as well but that's also a far cry from a motorcycle.

As soon as there are motorcycles, it might as well just take place in present day where every NPC has a car.

Horses naturally avoid trees. On an early BotW announcement, they wanted to show off how big the world was and they showed Link's horse. The producer mentioned how real horses won't slam into trees or require effort on the part of the rider to avoid them. With Epona the bike, that wouldn't be the case :)

Looking it up one was a steam boat as well. Not to mention mine carts being of a construction that could do something here

The power/energy thing could likely be handwaved away by types of magic as well. It need not be an every NPC thing either and instead be a tool of the gods or something.

I don't think it would add anything to the game other than being cool but it is not entirely out of line with the tech levels typically seen in the game.

Good news! You won't even get O.G. Epona in BOTW. Get ready for LoZ: Grand Theft Equine: You Dirty Thief Edition. Seriously.

You apparently you jump on a horse, soothe it, take said horse to your nearest stable, name it, and check out it's "horsepower", among other stats.
Like PKMN Refresh? Great! Because you'll need to raise affection with your ponies. Love Tamagotchi? Great! You can also feed your ponies because you love a chubby pony.
Think your steed will come get your lame ass after you got lost doing some crap and want to get back to the location you should have been at? Too bad. There's a limit to the love and the extents they'll go to prove their unyielding devotion for you.

Tbf there are decent $400 smartphones in today's market that make top end spec phones unjust it's just what you want
