As reported earlier, Nintendo planned the inevitable end of WiiU production sometime "soon".

It appears that the time has finally come and the console has stopped being produced in Japan according to the hardware section of Nintendo Japan’s website.

UPDATE: In a statement to Kotaku, Nintendo of America stated that "WiiU production has ended globally."

The Wii U was just a small upgrade to the Wii. Just like the original gba to the sp, dsi to the ds, the new 3ds to the old. People who expected it to be on par with the PS3 and Xbox 360 would see it as a failure. No support came from other devs because Nintendo now make shite consoles for devs to work with and easy to hack. To me the Wii U is the best system currently on the planet as an emulation machine. I can see the switch being a bigger failure. For a start it's marketing is so crap. Are people really gonna meet up everywhere with there switches and multi play together. No. Most games are all gonna be ports of older games with only Nintendo releasing a few first party games throughout its lifespan. Nintendo has lost the home console war I'm afraid.

The stylised titles on the US WiiU cover spines look a lot better than the European ones which were usually just normal text. However, considering the US WiiU covers were all white.. I'd take the PAL ones instead (all blue and stand out from the Wii ones)!

Ultra Smash, this is mediocre, not enough content. The base tennis game is still very fun if you have another player.

Devils Third, i feel this game gets WAY to much hate. Its FUN not in any way perfect and not worth $60 but its no where near the 3/10 2/10 this game was getting. This is a solid 6/10. If you don't take it seriously u'll really enjoy yourself. The online multiplayer was the best part of the game and it was shutdown 2 weeks ago, it was SO FUN i would legit give it a 8/10 you did yourself a disservice if you've never played Devils Third online chicken mode.

Star Fox Zero, this game would be a 8/10 if not for the STUPID BACKWARDS CONTROLS. How is one supposed to shoot looking at the gamepad yet still dodge and maneuver by looking at the TV? i only have 2 eyes. Whoever thought of that gimmick deserves to be fired.

Was the Wii U the last system with a PowerPC CPU?

The switch uses four ARM cortex A57 cores, not PPC ones, so I think the Wii U will be the last to use PPC CPUs.

There's two new Fire Emblem games coming out for the 3DS and it's so profitable that it'd be foolish of Nintendo to kill off the 3DS. The 3DS is a success whereas the WiiU never really was, makes it even worse it was dead on arrival.
