So, i'm trying to find a working xbox 360 at my place but didn't really had much luck - and the online prices on ebay germany are ... oh boy - but today, i found a working XBOX 360 Pro in a second hand shop (with the 60gb hdd) for 40 bucks.

But i heard from some people that the Pro isn't really that good. (for whatever reason)
Should i get it anyway?

Anything this model lacks others have?
Or will i be fine.

the pro model is a Falcon motherboard. Not too good with temps. But if you can make RGH with it, I´ll be worth it!

I suppose you mean temperature? :P
- or people around here /s~
Shouldn't be much of a problem because i'm not someone that plays for hours in one sitting, maybe a hour max. And my room is always pretty cold, so it should be fine haha.

And yeah, i kinda planned to mod it if possible.
Is it one of the easier to hack models?

I used to have a slim but didn't manage to hack it at all, at the end of the day, the drive just died lol, even though i made sure everything is fine. (I got even help from my brother who hacked tons of 360's)

Iv'e had a falcon Xbox 360 since 2010 - bought new in box

I have it RGH-2 using an Ace V2 chip if i recall correctly. I've never red ringed. Never changed the thermal paste. I've sank countless hours into it and used it for a while as a media streamer.

For 40 bucks it should be worth it if you ask me.

Ok, lets start with the basics here;
Depending on the mobo you got its the problems youll get.
If you have a Jasper Motherboard , then its NOOOT that bad, but its still a fat console.

A slim would probably be better, with any type of motherboard.

As for "Mod" the console, you got 2 options.

RGH or Flash the drive.

Flashing the drive allows you to play "Back Up Games" on your system, fats are easier to flash and can be done with items found normally on the house, yes, i did this with normal items at my house. or if you are not techy at all, then get the x360 tools. xecuter usb tools among others. or regular items at your use. and that will do the job. [This also varies from the type of drive your console has].

RGH
Quoting free60:
We found that by sending a tiny reset pulse to the processor while it is slowed down does not reset it but instead changes the way the code runs, it seems it's very efficient at making bootloaders memcmp functions always return "no differences". memcmp is often used to check the next bootloader SHA hash against a stored one, allowing it to run if they are the same. So we can put a bootloader that would fail hash check in NAND, glitch the previous one and that bootloader will run, allowing almost any code to run.

This means, homebrew, unsigned code, games on HDD, dlc on the hdd unlock tools mods, and many many others.
For this, you will need several other tools.

SO pick your needs, and decide which way to go.

I normally would get a slim and RGH. thats always my best suggestions.

It depends on your MFR data.
It could be a Falcon, could be a Jasper, could also be a Zephyr.

It depends on what you want to do with it but I'd take it.
Hacking it would be easy.

so all of them except winchester are hackable?
It appears so, quoting a VIP member, who works with the RGH stuff, from another forum:

"Microsoft has started working on Winchester motherboard in 2011, when RGH was published.
Of course they have tried to fix RGH. But how? Yes, the first thing we noticed is disabled POST bus.

My further research reveals they have put new special hardware module inside XCGPU crystall !
This module controls the POST_OUT bus and CPU_RESET signal. (probably something else, too)
It can also output values into POST_OUT by itself.

The first feature - hiding the POST_OUT bus from the end user is being enabled on the factory and _probably_ may be reverted.
The second feature - CPU_RESET control seems to be permanent. It detects the glitch attempts (CPU_RESET pulldown for time < 130us)
and stops the CPU.
Since CPU_RESET isn't linked with real CPU_RESET anymore, it's not possible to glitch the CPU anymore.
CPU_RESET asserting leads to either no reaction from CPU, or CPU halt + weird POST message."

and it took M$ five years to work this out? so they released it after the xbox one had been released? bad timing, I guess.
Not really, MS released Xbox one November 22, 2013, they probably had fixed it on the mobo nearly in 2012, however, when the released the E edition of the slim, they maybe just decide to put the new mobo in order to avoid the RGH once again.

with the E edition being released in the same year the ONE was released .... a bit late still... all piracy had been done before.

Does the x360key work on it or is that one literally impossible to mod?
if i were you, ill avoid xKey, its useless if you got RGH, as far as i know for xKey you need to extract they dvdkey and the cpukey, so just avoid the E model for what its good

Stick with any model that does not have the Winchester motherboard, and try also to avoid anything below jasper if its fat.

Xkey installation only required the DVD key in Phatties and early slims.
And no, RGH is great but it doesn't allow Live access.
Maybe OP wants to play multiplayer games as well, which, aside from some local LAN games is impossible on a RGH without spending tons of money.
