Is it possible for users to install game updates through their Wii U systems themselves or it has to have been purchased to allow game updating?

I got a game that says there's an update available despite THAT title website not having anything else for it, unless of course this means a user has to submit the keys for the update too.

It's possible Windows Defender is interfering with the update process and is preventing you from seeing the box which asks you whether you want to execute the application.

Updates have public tickets, so title keys are not required. You can either use USB Helper or install them from the menu prompt.

You can download the update and install it like ur games, if there is a yellow update on the icon . Right click it box will come up hit download updates then u can choose what update version you want

I have tried to end the install, but when I try to run the program, it get stuck at this point:

It's probably just a connection error, try again in a few minutes.

I uninstalled and reinstalled the app, and it no longer accepts the address of that key site

When I manually type in the address, the box disappears and then 1 seconds later comes back. Tried various forms of the web address. Free typing or pasting results in the same thing. Is it an issue with the latest version i'm using? USA ver:0.6.1.125.

I temporarily disabled my antivirus to see if that was blocking, and checked my firewall and everything seems ok. After leaving the program running for a awhile (even if I can't use it) eventually results in it crashing. (usually takes about 10 min or so) Seems like other users are experiencing similar problems within the last day.

Any ideas?

I don't think it is only you. There is something weird happening to me as well. when I get a game it will not finish getting at and stats over and then gets so far and does it again. At first I thought the game was the issue so I tried another and the same deal. So I decided to go to another machine and install the app on there and try it and I had the problem you are having with not being able to add "That Site". So I went back to the original machine and used UTikdownloadhelper and it worked flawless. Of course I like using Wii U USB Helper but I will give it some time and try again later. I know this does not help much but at least you know it is not you and maybe a power that is will chime in and shed some light soon

I haven't tried utikdownloader. Haven't tried FunkiiU (or whatever it's called) as well but all I can say is: I can't imagine a tool having a better functionality than this.
It auto updates itself on every launch (takes only seconds), auto updates it's "inventory" from that key site, tells you whether there are new games on that key site since your last visit, asks you to download updates and DLCs as well when you put a game in your download list, shows screenshots and a description text for every game which makes it looking a bit like Steam and it has a built in feature to put your downloaded stuff to an inserted SD card in the right folders.

redNand is pretty useless now, it takes a lot of space and is usually slower. There are quite a few CFWs available on this site.
Regarding whether you can be caught or not I'd say the chances are pretty low but as always you are doing it at your own risk.

You only need to run this little and fast homebrew once before installing (and after every Wii U reboot before launching games):

Otherwise just take a full custom firmware like MOCHA CFW which you can find on that site as well. Takes a bit longer to load but is a full CFW with all benefits.
