Semi-relevant question. The Guide says that:

All variations of sysUpdater, not just sysDowngrader, have a very small chance of causing a “soft brick” once the downgrade is complete and the device reboots. This will cause the system to boot directly to the Nintendo error screen instructing users to power off the device.

The reason for this is unknown, but can be prevented by performing a system format before downgrading. It seems to happen very often on systems with ambassador status or who have DSiWare installed.

Once this error happens, it can only be fixed by using recovery mode (boot holding A + R + L + Up on the D-Pad) to update to the latest system version.

So while the Slowaithax has executed fine on my 2DS, I am kinda afraid of downgrading to 9.2.0 and continuing the A9LH guide. I would perform a system format, but since it asks me to connect to the Internet, I'm afraid it might try updating to 11.2 and perhaps screw things up. Would it? Or would using tinyFormat be enough to prevent that brick possibility?

I assume I don't have to worry about my data, since whatever I lose I might be able to redownload from eShop after it's all over.

The internet connection is only required for Nintendo to unlink your NNID from your system.
It will not be updated to 11.2 at all.

I will be able to relink my NNID after I'm done with installing A9LH though, right?
Also, I'm still curious whether or not TinyFormat would be enough to serve the same purpose.

Tinyformat does the same as system format, but without unlinking your NNID, so you don't need to relink after the process

In the dsi online shop there is an app "called nintendo 3ds tranfer" from there you can tranfer your games, but i think you need your 3ds to be in the latest version thought.

Not true. I was able to system transfer 4 Swords to my 11.0.0-33 3DS the target does not need to be updated to transfer

Or if you have a friend with sticker star or oot3ds and they also have a cfw 3ds they can install the exploit on the game card for you and then you can access it....

Or if you have oot3d you could buy a power saves device and install the exploit through that method
shouldn't browserhax work if the dsiwarehax downgrade of the nfirm works, that shouod work and an access point, i could then reinstall steelhax, any idea why the downgrade wont work though if thats the case?
Welp, just read the stealhax site, just had to hold 1 f***ing button(b) and now it works, im just hanging on not being able to get am:u handle, keep trying, same thing over and over, at least im a step closer and have homebrew again

I'm still waiting on Walmart to ship my Black Friday N3DS, but I do have LoZ: Four Swords Anniversary downloaded on my old DSi. Would I be able to do some magical transfer shit to use DSiWareHax on my N3DS when it comes?

Does it matter that I attempted to downgrade to 10.4 using exidiahax, but my system STILL says "11.0?"

Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
It will still show you're on 11.0 in setting because that's your system version, your native firmware is completely different, you're good to go for downgrading to 9.2

I have ocarina of time 3D catridge so can I use oothax on my 11.0 N3DS?
If you have some way to install the hacked save

@SylverReZ if you could find a v5 DS ML you would have the best of both worlds since the v5 units had the same backlight brightness levels as the DS Lite unlockable with flashme

A woman with no arms and no legs was sitting on a beach. A man comes along and the woman says, "I've never been hugged before." So the man feels bad and hugs her. She says "Well i've also never been kissed before." So he gives her a kiss on the cheek. She says "Well I've also never been fucked before." So the man picks her up, and throws her in the ocean and says "Now you're fucked."

anyways, we need to re-normalize physical media

if i didn't want my games to be permanent, then i'd rent them

Agreed, that why I try to buy all my games on disc, Xbox anyways. Switch games (which I pirate tbh) don't matter much, I stay offline 24/7 anyways.

@BakerMan - you can still "own" digital media, arguably easier and better than physical since you can make copies and backups, as much as you like.

    The issue is DRM

  • cearp @ cearp:
You can buy drm free games / music / ebooks, and if you keep backups of your data (like documents and family photos etc), then you shouldn't lose the game. but with a disk, your toddler could put it in the toaster and there goes your $60

    :rofl2:
  • cearp @ cearp:
still, I agree physical media is nice to have. just pointing out the issue is drm

i like physical media because it actually feels like you own it. thats why i plan on burning music to cds

It's nice to not have to have a lot of physical things though, saves space

@rqkaiju2, Physical media is a great source for archiving your data, none of that cloud storage shiz.
