No here in Scotland if something is Complex it means it is very hard to use or understand so I stand by what I say in complex is not the right word to use to name the app.

Copied word for word from my dictionary

Complex.
adjective.
So complicated or intricate as to be hard to understand or to use:
Fair enough, there's clearly an ambiguity in the usage internationally.

The American usage has connotations. A complicated relationship is a bad relationship, but a complex person is one of depth and intrigue.

Well...Just wanna know more. The question is what if we install the not-so-own DLC on system nand withtout the sign-patcher or fw.img, will we still be able to install them? I know we cannot use them. But the question is if it is going to brick the Wii U console? Or do we have to sign-patch the Wii U first before installing them?

Allow me to ask the question again, so what is the difference between installing the DLC before patch and after patch since pretty much the DLC just works the same?
Without sign parches, wupinstaller will refuse to install content with fake tickets (dlc, eshop, homebrews, etc.)

I have redNAND set upon my 128GB SD card occupying 32GB of space. I don't exactly need the space back, but reading this I'm wondering if I even need to keep my redNAND at all.

You don't need to keep redNAND but if you plan on doing any kind of tweaking it gives you protection against bricks (as long as you modify redNAND of course)

Hey everyone,

I've written something new. It's a full featured iosuhax cfw like thing with wupserver, /dev/iosuhax node, all the signature check patches and a full os reload which makes it a clean firmware again. The difference is, it does not require any fw.img on your SD card or else where. All the nice stuff is inside the ELF file and I can perfectly share it with everyone. The custom firmware is equal to the "make cfw" build on my iosuhax fork regarding the features. It even reloads itself like iosuhax when you enter settings and leave them again from memory (ELF file is only required on first launch). You are not loosing the patches or anything.

So here are some PoC builds that you guys can try out (and maybe report if you find something out of ordinary):
version with splash screen:
http://www99.zippyshare.com/v/Gr7qDsDA/file.html

version with splash for coldbooter:
http://www84.zippyshare.com/v/rWrDiPTf/file.html

and a small version without splash to show how small it can be (90% of the size is the splash screen):
http://www43.zippyshare.com/v/Q0pDbp60/file.html

I will also make a redNAND version later but its not done yet.

I am thinking of giving this thing a new name as it is not very alike to iosuhax as it was before. It is quite different. Though parts of iosuhax are also big part of it, like the wupserver. So I think it should be a name that reminds one of iosuhax or parts of it. We though of many funny names with @dibas, @Maschell, @Cyan and @pwsincd (like iosuramhax, yail (yet another iosuhax loader) or even NaCl) but nothing that we all agreed on. If you think of something nice, let me know.

Sources and stuff will come later. I need to clean it up a bit more and make it more dev friendly :P.

Hi and thank you for this release. Everything is working so far except that I get black screen on eStore wii games (Resident Evil 4 wii is one of them). I have completely unplug to console from main to reboot. Can anyone else confirm this?

how would you install it? as I know it just puts it into memory........... and if I need a application/game what would it be?

yes you can, issue is that once you do so, after a reboot YOU MUST put put signpatches back, or else the console will say corrupted dlc.

The vWii fix version works the same way as the normal version. It is the same elf, the only difference being that it adds a fix for vWii games.
Sorry, I meant the cold boot option. Like do I need something. app or depency to make it work, i don't want to brick my Wii U because I only got 1, and can't afford another. Plus joining that long list of bricked users is not something I would look forward to.

There's a coldboot .elf of the vWii fix version. Also, if you want coldboothax, then the auto-launched application should be set to your Haxchi game. If you don't have Haxchi, well then, install it yourself.

@SylverReZ if you could find a v5 DS ML you would have the best of both worlds since the v5 units had the same backlight brightness levels as the DS Lite unlockable with flashme

A woman with no arms and no legs was sitting on a beach. A man comes along and the woman says, "I've never been hugged before." So the man feels bad and hugs her. She says "Well i've also never been kissed before." So he gives her a kiss on the cheek. She says "Well I've also never been fucked before." So the man picks her up, and throws her in the ocean and says "Now you're fucked."

anyways, we need to re-normalize physical media

if i didn't want my games to be permanent, then i'd rent them

Agreed, that why I try to buy all my games on disc, Xbox anyways. Switch games (which I pirate tbh) don't matter much, I stay offline 24/7 anyways.

@BakerMan - you can still "own" digital media, arguably easier and better than physical since you can make copies and backups, as much as you like.

    The issue is DRM
  • cearp @ cearp:
You can buy drm free games / music / ebooks, and if you keep backups of your data (like documents and family photos etc), then you shouldn't lose the game. but with a disk, your toddler could put it in the toaster and there goes your $60

    :rofl2:
  • cearp @ cearp:
still, I agree physical media is nice to have. just pointing out the issue is drm
  • rqkaiju2 @ rqkaiju2:
i like physical media because it actually feels like you own it. thats why i plan on burning music to cds
  • cearp @ cearp:
It's nice to not have to have a lot of physical things though, saves space
