The series have changed a lot since it started, however, one thing has always been true. Link and Zelda.
As soon as they said that Link will always be male, people should just accept what that means.
Even if they remained true so what? Even Link and Zelda themselves changed. This was never said, but even if it was, it is not like they haven't changed their mind before.

People are grasping at straws here. I don't see why people care so much about such an insignificant thing in this game, if people want a female character, they can go play tons of other games.
Maybe, but the argument against her is grasping at straws as well. Those people seem to care as much as people would don't want her (female Link) in the game in any form. Seems to be significant enough to be argued over and over again from both sides. I mean, if it was so insignificant, there wouldn't be any arguments. It not just about having a playable female character, specifically female Link, but having one in this game and this series. If the next game has female Link only or even as an option (because some people are that vexed), do you really want someone telling you to play another game?

Yeah, wouldn't be the first time I stoped caring about a series because devs screwed it over (well, only if it's just a female link, if its a option I won't really care, but would still be disappointed).

Looking at you, Ubisoft, ruining the gameplay of Splinter Cell and then the character of Sam Fisher.

If they want, they can make Link talk but that defeat the purpose of silent protagonist.

Not what I was saying though. I was saying 2 somewhat different story lines. A male one and a female one, the Male, Link story would be a silent protagonist, the female Zelda or Impa (or whoever, just hopefully not simply a female Link) story could be a lead character that actually does talk. Thereby also adding more differences between the two takes of the story and more incentive to play through a second time as the other character.

Doesn't seem that would fit into a game. And it doesn't really contribute much to the gameplay for it to worth the space it take.

I don't see how it wouldn't fit into the game. And I don't see how it would take up a lot of extra space when its just using assets already in game. Maybe a few different cutscenes would take up a little more space, but not much.

Also, here's the explanation Eiji Aonuma gave:

“The Triforce is made up of Princess Zelda, Ganon and Link. Princess Zelda is obviously female. If we made Link a female we thought that would mess with the balance of the Triforce. That’s why we decided not to do it.”

Zelda, Ganon and Link, that's it. Might have other characters, you might get to play with Zelda, but the triforce is only related to these three.

i know you are just trolling, but i had to bite. There are only 2 physical genders, all others are mental disorders. :-)
You mean all 2. Male and female.

Lol I'm sure it was a southpark joke about a ridiculous number of fake genders.....

'Cause having a female Link screws over the whole series.

That doesn't say never and they tend to change their mind. Not to mention, as pointed out all over the internet, that reason doesn't even make sense.

There are two sexes. Genders are not about biology but rather societal roles.

Edit: well actually you've got the Hermaphrodites, too, so would that technically be a third sex?
Futanari is both, not neither.
Edit: The point is, there are two very different people playable, gender, stats, weapons, reactions, everything is tweeked if not completely different.

This is getting quite off-topic, but I should note that many biologists would argue that that gender/gender identity in fact has a biological underpinning, and the claim that it's purely a 'social construction' is, at best, unscientific, unsubstantiated and lacking in hard evidence.

On-topic: I agree with @Skelletonike on virtually every point he's made. I like the Zelda series a lot, but see no reason why there should be a female Link option, in the same way that I don't think there should be a male Samus option in Metroid. If they made a spinoff Zelda game where you play as Zelda/Linkle/whoever then great (they did that Federation Force, in a sense), just not in a main series game.

Not the gender option, but play as a different in universe character who is a girl and could be Zelda.

I would consider this to be an infinitely worse decision than a gender option. The option of a female link wouldn't have any significant impact on the gameplay itself, and so, while I disagree with the idea, I wouldn't necessarily be too upset.

You want the entire structure of the game, and its world and story, to revolve around a playable Zelda or an extra female-Link character, just so you can have a female character in a main series Zelda game? If they did what you're suggesting in a spin-off game, then sure, but why do you think your desires are so important that they need to so centrally and significantly impact a main series Zelda game? Why is having a single playable main character with a particular gender such a big deal that you would want this?

I was talking about a different playable character like the entire Plague of shadow to Shovel Knight. Breath of the wild is extremely open world anyway.

If your internet speeds are fast enough. Streaming 4k takes alot. I used to only have 20mb sec, and 4k struggled. Now I have 300mb sec and 4k plays fine.

Or free government supplied high speed internet be nice also. Like Obama care. Xdqwerty that's cool, its time consuming but rewarding once done or playable, to see what you've made from scratch. Animations take forever, but worth it.

and the visual aspect of the game is quite crude (the sprite that looks best is that of the protagonist just because he is a stickman with sunglasses)

  • BigOnYa @ BigOnYa:
There is a bullets behaviour you assign to your character, that makes the code easier, under "behaviours"
  • Xdqwerty @ Xdqwerty:
i meant that when the character is pointing to the right, the bullets spawn where they should, but when he is on the right, they move to the right but the spawn point is incorrect
  • BigOnYa @ BigOnYa:
Itch.io has lots of free assets also. Under the bullets behavior tab, there is a "rotate bullets" option, can try that. Or in the code can try
    - fire bullet Player.X(PlayerDirection)

That's cool tho, I'm proud of you going back to it, not giving up. It is difficult at first to learn, but fun once you get the hang of it. I think I've watched every tutorial video there is, but I still struggle sometimes to get stuff to work right. But gotta keep trying dif things, and eventually you will get it right.
