When you say you have it in the root of the SD card does it look like SD:/private/wii/app and also title subdirectories?? There are more subdirectories in each of those as well, but that's the general idea.

Also, what are you using to mod your Wii?? What guide??

it says J:/private/wii/title/
no app

I'd use ModMii that's here on GBATemp - http://gbatemp.net/threads/modmii-for-windows-official-support-topic.207126/. I think you're missing some things/files.

You might research and see what that folder is suppose to contain. I can't say for certain but mine contains an APP folder in the same directory as TITLE. Inside my APP folder are 4 more folders with cascading subdirectories.

I'd share mine with you, but I'm not sure if it would mess you up. In entering my Wii ID when the Letterbomb installer was making the files, I don't know where they get placed, so I'm not sure what would happen if you used my Letterbomb APP files if that's where my Wii ID gets placed. Could be bad.

Pretend you never tried modding your Wii before and use ModMii. I've done over a dozen Wiis using it and it's never failed!!

I believe that XC cards aren't compatible with the Wii. https://www.nintendo.com/consumer/downloads/WiiOpMn_setup.pdf -- page 22. No XC Card is shown.

That might have been true at some point but not for a while. With 4.3U it's working for me, I've been using a 256GB HDXC for 6+ months and I think I might even have a 128GBHDXC in one of my other Wiis - I have 6 setup at home, so I tend to forget (2 red/2 black/2 white) with various size SD's in each.

I play Wii/GameCube/VC/WW off SD when I don't have one of my three WD 8TB HDDs attached (and yes the entire 8TB on all each is set up and working as one single FAT32 8TB partition - (Latest condensed version of how to do it: http://gbatemp.net/threads/usb-loader-gx.149922/page-1132#post-6662953 **If link does not work you'll need to cut and past it into your browser). I'd set these up a while ago and I think Nintendont & USB Loader GX might now support GPT drives, but mine were made into MBRs before that function was supported in both programs, plus I'm not sure if any other programs would be broken by using the drive as GPT. Next time I make one up I'll probably try it as a GPT version to see what happens.

Break throughs are being made all the time...

I still think the problem is the guide you are/were following. Use ModMii to get your Wii up and running. It'll generate a guide and download everything directly to your SD card that's needed, just slowly follow all the directions.

Any problems with ModMii just post over there on it's support page and I'll help as much as I can. Most important is to read the guide it generates before doing ANYTHING, it's very detailed.

Sorry, I missed this in between messages.

No, I used a 2GB SD card to first mod all of my Wiis using ModMii. After each was modded I moved all of my files over to larger SD cards. I have 8, 16, 32, 64, probably a 128 & a 256 card, one of them are in each of my 6 Wii's.

Maybe you might want shut things down for the night and try it tomorrow letting 24 hrs go by. Like I said before, that's what I had to do on two or three of my Wiis. Then we can take it up again tomorrow night if no magic happens...

Ok it worked! now just working on the rest. does my sd card need to stay at 2 GB?

Sure, once you're done getting though all the modding steps you can change the card back to using the entire 256GB.

Just copy the SD contents to your PC, resize back to just one partition using the entire 256GB, reformat the card to FAT32 w/ 32k clusters and then copy the contents back.

How do I install the channels to my wii and not just load them from the sd card?

You'll need to find the WAD files for them, install each separately and them you'll be set.

When I use ModMii it goes down the check list of channels to install and sets everything up automatically (well almost).

If you installed ModMii run the ModMii Classic Mode and select option 2 to download what you need, then install them using Multi Mod Manager or something similar.

I am trying to create wads on my computer for each emulator just having a bit of troubel...

No I think you want to go out and find the WAD already made then after placing them on the SD card you'll want to install them with MMM.

I'm pretty sure most of those emulators out there have WAD files for installing the channel shortcuts/forwarders. Of course the main program would need to be placed in the correct place on the SD.

Incase you don't have it, here's a list of Wii emulators: http://wiibrew.org/wiki/List_of_homebrew_emulators

Here's a link to Mastershoes Themed Emulator Forwarder Collection: 2nd Edition: https://gbatemp.net/threads/mastershoes-emu-forwarder-collection-2nd-edition.309678/Also

Hope this helps...
