Hi, guys, I've lost al9h after I restored a 11.1 back to my O3DS Sysnand. I'm guessing I'm screwed, but any way I can get it back without hardmod or another O3DS?

system won't boot to CFW. I can boot system without SD card
did you happen to install any SD-less payloads? like ShadowNAND or Aurora Wright's fork (which is still in development). Hourglass9 never had the option to remove a9lh.

try this: https://mega.nz/#!YxMiGDhB!VZLv2XPSqFFzEhf4kGMXAdQtSpIGvnp2vu2W1j4o7cc/
put it as arm9loaderhax.bin on an SD card, put the SD in, turn it on. if it boots to a black screen, press any button; if it turns off, you still have a9lh.

Nope, did not install any SD-Less payloads. I've try the bin file you've included and it boot up normally.

mind giving "Hourglass9.log" from the SD card? could be at the root or "files9".

Just checked the logs. looks like I did not use Hourglass9. I used Decrypt9 to restore.

Initializing SD card... success

0x25 KeyX: loaded, verified, set up
0x18 KeyX: already set up

You selected "NAND Restore".
This feature writes to the SysNAND.
Doing this is potentially dangerous!

If you wish to proceed, enter:
<Left>, <Up>, <Right>, <Up>, <A>

(B to return, START to reboot)

Use arrow keys and <A> to choose a file
emuNAND.bin
Validating NAND dump NAND.bin...
Verifying dump via .SHA...
.SHA not found, skipped
Opening NAND.bin ...
Restoring SysNAND. Size (MB): 943
NAND Restore: succeeded!

Press B to return, START to reboot.

Unmounting SD card...

there's your problem, you didn't use "NAND Restore (keep a9lh)".

sorry but you're screwed (unless you didn't reboot out of D9 yet). only way to fix this is hardmod or other system + DSiware.

i feel like the remove a9hl option in decrypt should be somewhat hidden from the next updates on. like, you can still get there by holding L+R+Select, but otherwise, its just never there

Maybe make it deeper in menus.
Sysnand Restore -> Keep A9LH (yes/no) -> If no: Are you really, really sure? (yes/no) -> If yes: special button sequence with big red letters saying A9LH will be removed.

Or people should just use Hourglass9 instead. I think this is one of the reasons why Decrypt9 was removed from Plailect's guide. Too much options, too easy to mess up.
Hourglass9 has all the basic functions that everyone needs. I wish Hourglass9 had the options to extract/inject GBA saves and to convert .3ds to .cia.

U may have not read, but OP used Hourglass, but he was noob enough to restore NAND backup without "Kepp A9LH" option.

People should only start reading and understand whats they are truly doing, that would be enough!

I've have been away from the scene for quite sometime so I'm fine with you calling me a noob again. I was unaware there was a way to remove a9lh from just restoring. Lesson learn, but I'm not making a big deal from this. I had already used the 3DS to downgrade my N3DS. Let this thread be a tip/lesson for someone else and keep it civil in here. We all make mistakes and people don't need to kick you when you're down.

    Yeah but not like this.
  • Veho @ Veho:
It's not like they're complaining that their Slurpee is 99% ice or something, but if the cocktail calls for "shot of vodka, shot of vermouth, shot of gin, shot of Campari, three shots of juice, squirt of lemon" and ends up being a thimbleful of booze, that's a problem.
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
the funny thing is cocktails in norway are only allowed to have 1 20ml shot of booze
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
    so..... yeah

we're used to only having a thimbleful of booze

same thing if you want whisky on the rocks or something, you can't get a double
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
but you could buy as many shots of whisky (or anything else) as you want and ask for a glass of ice and pour them in

    it's dumb

    Maybe.

There was a comparison of the number of Ibuprofen poisonings before and after they limited the maximum dosage per box or per pill (i'll look that up). No limit on the number of boxes you can still buy as many as you want, so people argued it was pointless.
  • Veho @ Veho:
But the number of (accidental) poisonings dropped because drinking an entire package of ibuprofen pills went from "I need a new liver" to "I need a new box of Ibuprofen".
  • Veho @ Veho:
Here we have ketoprofen that used to be prescription-only because of the risk of toxic dosages, but then they halved the dose per pill and sell them in bottles of six pills apiece instead of twenty and it doesn't need a prescription any more. Yes you can buy more than one bottle but people simply don't.

Usually accidentally overdose of ibuprofen here is from people taking like cold medicine then ibuprofen for a headache and the combination is over what they need
