I don't know if this is the place to ask this but I'm trying to get Luma CFW on my 3DS. First off I'm using HumbleHax and have no idea what I'm doing. I've got all the needed files over but when I launch it from the Homebrew menu it just shows a black screen and I need to reset the system. (P.S. Is this really worth getting? To be honest I don't know what it really does other than give custom splash screens)

What is your current system firmware? You have to be on 9.2.0 to install Luma3DS.

Oh. Nevermind then. I'm on 11. I thought it was possible to get it on any firmware. Sorry...

If you have another 3ds with cfw, you can do the dsi downgrade. If not, hardmod is your only choice.

Luma Updater is showing me "Fatal Error" :

I set A9LH+Luma following Plailect's Guide in March. So, I have SysNand Updated I guess. Then, I didn't played a lot, because work and stuff.
Today I wanted to go back on my 3DS, in order to play some games. Plus, I wanted to update things if needed, simply because I generally like to have things up to date, with last features etc.

First, before check new system version, I launched Luma Updater. But, it shows me : "Could not get status code / Ret code: -660561850 / FATAL ERROR / Failed to obtain required data. / Press START to exit." ( with "/" for enter)

What happens ?
What can I do in order to fix that ?
Error = bad, that's all I know.

I probably have A9LH "v1" since it was set in March.

I saw on the Homebrew part of the forum a thread about way to launch cheats for DS games (cartridge), and want to test, but I think it need last version for patched something I don't know.

If someone can explaine me what goes wrong and how to fix that ?

hi quick ?, i used to have Mario Kart 7 - Custom Track Grand Prix 7 (CTGP-7) installed via ntr it used to work. now i tried to launch it but it crashes when updating so i unistalled bootntr and ctgp cias. i reinstalled ctgp and now it wont stop throwing out the error message (error string 424 file doesnt exist. if anyone can help me get this working again i would greatly appreciate it .thanks

Either use Star Updater, which is a better luma3ds updater or update to arm9loaderhax v2.

Ok, so I can just uninstall Luma Updater from settings and grab the CIA of Star Updater somwhere and install it with FBI/Dev Menu ?

Is A9LH v2 a "must have" ? Long to update ?

You can install via QR mode with the latest version of FBI. The QR Code can be found on www.titlesdb.com, but in your case, yes. Just delete Luma Updater, and install Star Updater.

With A9LH v2, you can update if you want. I don't know if it solves the problem, but it is easy to update so it is worth a try.

Is it a good idea to make another sysNAND-A9lHAX.bin after installing lots of programs and games to not have to reinstall anything if the system ever bricks? Also what is the point of having the sysNAND-A9LHAX.sha.bin file if the sysNAND-A9LHAX.bin is the one that is used to restore a system?

Sure, make as many NAND back ups as you feel necessary and safe with.
Also that is part of some verifcation process to make sure thigs are in working order, you don't wanna mistake one for another and accidentally do something bad right?

Of course if you already made on a9lh NAND back up like the guide says, you shouldn't need anymore unless you been messing with the SYSNAND which is never advised unless you know what you are doing. O_O

You can still use homebrew, like emulators for nes and gameboy color and some homebrew games as well, or even for backing up save data, people make save data editors to cheat in games sometimes.

You could wait for a possible solution to 11.0 cfw installation, but we don't know when it will happen.

I believe you need CFW.

And yes, you need a9lh for custom splash screen and intros. But you can also use homebrew for emulators, and other games and useful things like setting your coins to 300 and make puzzle swap faster or find me, or buying trophies in super smash bros

Im reading instructions from https://github.com/Plailect/Guide/wiki/Get-Started but I wondering what should I do with my 3ds with 2.1 . BTW it must been laying in the werehouse for years!

If is on 2.1 follow step 4 of getting the otp.bin from the system before doing anything else.
