This thread needs to get back on topic, instead of turning into a pissing contest.
N64 emulation has been around for over a decade and a half. It's mature enough where all the simple and medium games are fully playable. Some of the more obscure games that use odd graphical effects may need a bit more grunt to emulate but n64 emulation is in reach of EVERY pc on the market right now.
Just have a look at the emulator called: 1964
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/1964_(emulator)

It was known for being a highly compatible but low system requirement emulator and ran the iconic games perfectly. And this was back on Windows 95.

And the simple fact that the n64 emulator which currently runs inside a Psp emulator on th vita, can run games decently well, goes to show that n64 emulation on the vita hardware shouldn't be much of an issue in terms of performance.

Now, let's get back to n64 emulation on the vita. I'll be happy to donate $50usd to the developer who gets this going

your right it was childish of me to respond the way i did. What we should do is get a group of talented programmers and try to create a new but better n64 emulator for the vita. Im planning on buying the slim model soon because i dropped my other one in the pool lol, but what i can do is when i do buy it i can mod it and look at the vita firmware and see how it was engineered, it should be similar to the ps3 if im not mistaking

So you are saying that the cell microprocessor within the ps3 is similar to the arm cpu inside the vita?
is that what you are suggesting?

Im suggesting the software used on ps3 is similar to the vita, idk ill have to look. Also is there a micro sd card adapter for the vita? I would hate to pay 100$ for a fucking memory card

No, it's not similar and the system architecture isn't either.

The Vitacard (Vita Storage Card) uses a completely different communication standard that's proprietary to Sony and the Vita platform. SD cards are not even small enough to have a hardware device built to give a translation layer for them to work in a Vita, and that's assuming someone takes the time to reverse engineer the Vitacard's communication bus and protocol.

In short, you need to buy a Vitacard, you cannot use an SD card.

Ok cool that saves some time.. anyways do i have to spend a shit load of money for a memory card?
If you are lucky you can get it cheaper from japan.
but there is no cheaper solution at this point in time.

Why not just get a PSP?
I am serious, they are dirt-cheap by now and thanks to MicroSD to ProDuo Adapters you have extremely cheap access to unbelievable amounts of storage.
I bought a PSP e1000 last night for 20 euro plus shipping.
You can just buy one with a broken UMD drive (you won't really need that anyway) and you can even get light scratches out if you use Displex (or other products like it). Getting into PSP gaming couldnt be cheaper right now.
Just try and avoid the PSP 1000 (aka Phat or Fat) because it only has 32mb of ram.
Sorry for butting in, but what models would be good to look for? Or does it not matter as long as it's something other than a 1000?

It would be best to get the 3000 because it is the best out of them all in my opinion but thats just me. As long as its not the psp go or 3000 you should be fine. Beware tho you cannot run n64 games on the psp well

--------------------- MERGED ---------------------------

I got like 3 psp sysyems but no batteries lol

The 1000 model isn't necessarily bad, but that extra ram can improve loading times and give you more performance in some homebrew/games, so it's nice to have.
The 2000 model is probably the best because it doesn't have the ghosting/artifacting the 3000 model has.
the e1000 was only released in europe iirc, so that wouldn't factor into your decision anyway, but it's basically a cost-reduced version without wifi and only a mono-speaker and no (easily) removable battery, but has the best battery life.
Also there is the PSP Go. I really don't like that one.
The e1000 is also the only model that is incompatible with the infinity patch.

EDIT: Actually, just get whichever one you can get for a decent price! You are gonna like whichever model you get (maybe not the GO tho) and they are all going to be affordable. I got a PSP Street for cheap and i love it. Just don't forget to get yourself a MicroSD to ProDuo Adapter and a big microSD card. PSP/PSX Games can take up a lot of space.

I'd say definitely a non-TA-88v3 2k PSP, as they are compatible with Pandora exploits and allow for full CFW effortlessly. Anything else is second best imho.

Haven't you heard about Infinity Hax?
Motherboard revision is irrelevant now.
http://infinity.lolhax.org/
Infinity does work, but it's not the same as the full bootloader vulnerability of the pre-ta-88v3 boards. If you brick a later board, infinity won't save you, and you cannot run some older homebrew on those late firmwares either, like IR shell. It's a choice, but the point is that the ta-88v2 and below are the true winners of the PSP lottery for mod-ability and longevity.

I am not saying you are wrong, i just personally wouldn't invest any time in trying to hunt one down, since i personally don't see the point.

Fair enough, but the question was "which model is the best to look for?", to which my answer is, in my opinion, the correct one. Of course, any of the post-1k models will work just fine, but the 2k reigns supreme none the less.
