Yifan Lu Announces HENKaku - A New Native Vita Homebrew Enabler for 3.60.

Earlier today, Yifan Lu, a well-known member of the Vita hacking scene famous for the Rejuvenate hack for the Dev Assistants, has announced that a new (native!) Vita homebrew enabler for the latest firmware version, as of writing (3.60), will be arriving tomorrow at "9:00AM UTC".

The new hack, known as "HENKaku", will require the following:
  • A Vita/PSTV running 3.60
  • A memcard with at least 10MB of free space (internal memory is currently not supported!)
  • An FTP client
  • An internet connection**
**Offline support is now available! Launch the exploit straight from the email app without the need for internet access at all! See the unofficial release thread for more details. (Internet connection still required for installation)

This is a small paragraph of Yifan Lu himself explaining what the properties of this new homebrew enabler does:

HENkaku simply lets you install homebrew as bubbles in LiveArea. It is a native hack that disables the filesystem sandbox. It installs molecularShell, a fork of VitaShell that lets you access the memory card over FTP and install homebrew packages (which we create as VPK files). With vita-toolchain, developers have access to the same system features licensed developers have access to as well as undocumented features that licensed developers cannot use (including overclocking the processors).

The hack has been released at http://henkaku.me ~ Furthermore, the hack is said to be exclusive to 3.60, and there is to be no backports for the time being.

Afaik sony wants to kill vita as fast as it can... And homebrew is reason to do that... Give me example of newest game ,that isnt japanese or indie......

As far as Sony is concerned, the Vita is already dead. Avoiding Homebrew isn't going to change things.

The Vita is currently played up as an accessory to the PS4. That's it. The few games that are trickling out for it now aren't thanks to Sony's efforts.

Thanks guys you killed vita...........

Oh yeah, as the PSX and the Nintendo DS were killed by piracy, right? Wait, I think the story went differently.
Don't belive everything you read on the offical Sony blog.
Bringen Gravity Rush 2 not to the Vita and such things luckly have nothing to do with the livliness of the Vita...

The Vita suicided. If anything this might revitalize it. Not that it's gonna.

And no, the homebrew scene is essentially non existent for the Vita, no way in hell is that the cause of them dropping the Vita. They drop the Vita cause they just don't care about it, and never did.

holly mother!, so no more rejuvenate and no more unity license stuff, I though Yifan gave up with vita scene since rejuvenate didn't catch enough momentum at all, well I am so excited what will be possible with henkaku, think about it, 3ds is just a toy comparing with what vita can do, :D

This is fantastic news but it's probably not worth givng up tn-v for if you aren't already on 3.60 since it does not seem like there is too much homebrew as far as the vita side is concerned. That and i have no idea how good retroarch runs on ps vita natively.

Updating to 3.60 right now. Got the TN-V & Ark launcher, but I hardly use it. Time to delete all that old stuff, and start with something fresh.

I think we are now deeply in need of a new TN-V for 3.60, because then we are all on one FW again (most recent FW with all hack ability) since a long time (no other reason than don't touch a runnig system for older FW anymore, while beeing pushed by Sony for game compatibility [thanks Sony for helping us :rofl2:]).
I think that would help the homebrew/hacking community alot.

Thank you! hopefully this lets us configure some games to run at a higher clock speed as well!
EDIT: I am seriously happy to get full access to the memcard via ftp

Do any recent Vita games come with 3.60. This firm was released on April 6th so there should be some I hope.

Do you mean games that require firmware 3.60 in order to play them?
I mean games that install that firmware when you boot them.
More convenient to go out and buy a specific game of a specific firmware than downloading the files that you actually want? Yeah, no.
What if I already have said game? duh
Why not just update via the normal procedure while you can?
I have a VitaTV in storage I can't get to right now.
