I guess. I just think that's dirty. I think anyone who gets a ban. Deserves it. Anyways, Sky bans are usually temporary. Do them enough though, and you'll earn a permanent one. I think.

I mean I'm okay in a sense as I just use .cias and things, although what if a noob bought a GW/Sky3DS and got banned and didn't realise what happened, although I don't see why a noob should have either of those. :0p

I followed the whole Plailect guide succesfully and my Old3DS is running Luma3DS on sysNAND now.
Is the 3DS capable of running game copies now?
Can it only run .cia files or is there a way to run .3ds files?
What is gateway? Im reading guides and stuff everywhere, but I just dont know what it is. Is it only for using the cartridge?

Yes - install CIAs using FBI (which should be injected in your Health & Safety app), or use freeShop.

Can it only run .cia files or is there a way to run .3ds files?

.3ds files are emulated cartridges, only used with flashcarts which run from the cartridge slot.

What is gateway? Im reading guides and stuff everywhere, but I just dont know what it is. Is it only for using the cartridge?

You don't need to worry about Gateway. It is a flashcart that can only run on an exploitable firmware, but once you have exploitable firmware you can run any CFW for free so there is no point. It can run .3ds files and is a bit better that NTR for cheats. It is up to you whether that makes it worth spending $80-$100 on.

Now I only need to find a good source for .cia files

Use freeShop, it's much easier than finding individual cia files. Here are some steps:

1. Install the latest FBI.cia if you don't have it already
2. Download encTitleKeys.bin from the titlekeys database (Google 3ds titlekeys database) and put it in a new folder called freeShop on the root of your SD.
3. Go to the freeShop release thread of GBATemp and scan the QR code with the latest FBI to install it.

Now you can search for the games you want & install them.

1. Backup the files on your SD card
2. Hold Y on boot to open emuNAND9
3. Find the option to format SD (no emuNAND). I can't remember the menu options exactly but it shouldn't be too hard to find.
4. Press Select to unmount SD, take it out, put it in your computer and copy the files back onto it.
5. Put SD back in, press B to remount, then (I think) Start to restart your console.


Remember to change options in Luma, you need updated sysNAND now (hold Select on boot to get to Luma options).

Hey! I am trying to install ReiNand, but it seems I am stuck. Whenever I use CTRBootmanager to boot the homebrew launcher, I get a red screen, permanently. When I change boot.3dsx to the homebrew launcher, I have no problems... Any ideas?

If you buy it brand new it will be fine. Highest reported firmware on a new console is 10.5. On 10.7 you'd have to buy an exploitable game, and on 11.0 you'd need to hardmod.

I think I've heard 10.7 is possible, but unlikely. Probably depends on your region too. In Canada here I was still getting as low as 9.6

No. But you'll still need to get to 9.3-10.7 via cart update, then used a cart based hax entry point to get down to 9.2 properly.

Hey guys! I haven't checked in a long time, but it looks like there's been a ton of progress in the 3DS world. I have a 3DSXL with firmware 4.4 using a Gateway.

Some dumb questions:

-Do I not need a Gateway anymore once I go A9LH with CFW? Can I load the backups onto the internal SD card?
-If the answer is yes, Can I concurrently use the Gateway along with the internal SD card with A9LH for additional storage?
-Will my DStwo still work properly with A9LH?
-Can I use an Emunand if future firmwares are non-exploitable and needed to play games?
-Is it safe to turn my wifi on at all times now?

Sorry if these are dumb questions, but all I can really find is information on how to get A9LH done, not much on what it can do or how it works with other solutions. Thanks in advance!

you wouldn't use ".3ds", you would use CIAs and install them, if you decide to stop GW. or, you can keep using your GW red card if you want to keep using your ".3ds" roms

yes

not necessary if you go with arm9loaderhax. sysnand is perfectly safe to use, unless you're using Gateway sysnand mode, which doesn't block FIRM partition writes, so an update can remove a9lh. if you still use GW, either use another cfw like Luma3DS to update, or keep emunand.

Alright.... been a LONG while since I last posted and at least a year since I was watching around the scene. I have spent the last few hours reading around everything and everywhere and it's making my head spin. Maybe I'm just taking too much in at once or too much that I may not need to.

I'm simply looking to run Luma3DS from my 9.2 OXL without updating the system itself and run newer games and online going by the updated EmuNAND alone. Plailect's A9LH Guide, is meant for people who want A9LH. Which gives people 100% bootrates, and with A9LH we also no longer need EmuNAND//RedNAND.

I am not sure what you are asking for though. Do you want A9LH or do you want to go the menuhax+rednand//emunand route?

If I'm understanding correctly I am leaning towards menuhax but with A9LH there is the perk of playing out of region. I'm just not sure if I would bother using it soon so I'd say Menuhax.

EDIT Enervmind I think I'd be best going with the A9LH XD and stick with that 100%
