The authors are allowed to make whatever choices they'd like to in the development of this piracy software.
You are wrong on that point. It is not some arbitrary aoc check in our code and there is also no hint to how this works in there. It is quite a bit more work than to just comment something out. That is all that I will be saying to this. For now let's continue to live with the lie that a custom IOS firmware is necessary for free DLC, online playing and whatever else the gold goose is said to bring to us .It seems that logically DLC loading from SD inherently is already the "method" of free DLC loading, so that the only thing in the code preventing it is some arbitrary aoc check. Considering loadiine is open-source, isn't it a bit ridiculous to do something like this? I mean, not that you shouldn't be allowed to do what you want with your software, I just don't see the point because someone will just comment it out anyway
Funny. Sounds like a quote from marcan. If people actually paid for the software, they wouldn't be using loadiine, as it hinders the experience one would have with said software, for a number of reasons. It is a means to an end of having stolen software. Making a backup is just as illegal as it is detrimental. The fact that it doesn't download copyrighted content is irrelevant. It is piracy software, and it is now piracy software with an identity crisis.
You still can spoof your firmware to the latest then and use the nnu-patcher as users < 5.5.1 do now.Am I right in saying that if/when Nintendo release an update, there will be no way to access the eShop? I have no disagreement with the restrictions per say, but that situation would prevent people from buying the DLC.
try wiiubru.comI don't get it how to make loadiine work on my 5.5.1 fully stock Wii U. So... I have followed some videos and did this:
Formated SD card to FAT32
Made folders wiiu and inside apps and inside of apps loadiine_gx2
Downloaded latest nightly build of loadiine gx2 and put .elf file inside of loadiine_gx2 folder.
Ejected SD and put it in Wii U
Opened internet and went to loadiine.ovh
Pressed to launch loadiine_gx2 but it failed...
What should I do?

Loadiine is not a tool which lets you download/unlock games.
It doesn't download free games for you from nintendo, it loads what you own. It's not a tool to get things for free, it's a loader to load what you should already own (your own backup).
It's up to you to dump your own game and DLC backup with ddd to use with the loader.
If you don't own the backup, it's not the loader's fault. But at least, the current DLC method is not a check to disable what you don't own (it's not an Anti piracy check, don't see it like that) but only a way to load and not unlock.
Unlocking is not the job of a loader and like Dimok said, it would be a piracy tool identical to something which lets you download games for free. Loadiine does not let you "get" content. This is not a sharing tool.
I hope you will understand, and don't start a drama like Devolution and disc check, because it's NOT an AP check.
If loadiine allows grabbing/unlocking content for free, you can expect publishers or Nintendo to be angry and prepare for project deletion, DMCA, etc.
If you have the knowledge to make it happen, at least have the knowledge of the consequences and be wise not to release it.
I think what Cyan is trying to say is that there is a difference between:Here is my non-important opinion on the arguments you gave.
First of all "loadiine is not a tool which lets you download/unlock games" as for the first part, i agree, but for the second one, i totally don't, you have private versions with loading of non purchased dlc, which is in that category.
Then "it's not a tool to get things for free", well, the fact that you had to use a different patch for dlc loading that the private one you have for the sole purpose of not loading non purchased dlc show that the private version of the tool gets things for free, you just don't want it to be public.
next part, agree with you, not the loader's fault, and the current public dlc method does not allow for piracy (but the private one obviously does).
Next part, "unlocking is not the job of a loader" well, allow me to disagree, your private loader, i can tell for sure, does load not legally owned dlc, thus unlocking illegally content. also you claim that it's not a piracy tool....get real, i can bet most of you devs use it for that purpose, it IS meant to piracy, but you don't want to be the ones to publicly release that, it's fine, i can understand.
Also for the "project deletion or DMCA"....yeahhh, that's just not happening, i'm still waiting for any communication from nintendo for PastaCFW, which the WHOLE purpose was for piracy, so yeah, not happening.
And also, you should NOT be saying that if people have knowledge to do it not to release it, you should WANT others to release it, would give you much much more leeway in the future, since you wouldn't be the ones to "bring piracy to the console" (which to many people you already are, but that is not the matter discussed here...)
So all in all, it's not a matter of the tool not being designed for piracy, IT IS designed for piracy, you do use it for piracy with private versions, but you don't want to release it to public, and as i said, it's perfectly fine, your software, your decisions, but DO NOT tell that it's not it's purpose, as that is pure BS, you can say that you don't want to be publicly associated with piracy, that is totally fine with me and for some regards, respectable by me, but don't say that it's not what the tool is supposed to do when all the users use it for that.
On the other hand, i do userstand your stand point and do respect it, but damn, give us proper arguments next time, please
Nice job! Any plans on adding rumble support in the near future?
Also, I noticed that while using my PS4 controller through both Loadiine and legitimately purchased games, (in this case, Bayonetta 1 and 2 respectively) my controller works as well as possible right now, however, both methods of loading games, official or Loadiine, end up crashing the console to a freeze and buzz that lasts for a few seconds, with the buzz going away afterwards. I know for sure that it has something to do with the controller, as this does not happen while using the gamepad. Is this a known issue? Is it being looked into?
But otherwise, fantastic job on this! Keep up the good work.
Most of the devs dont even play any games...get real, i can bet most of you devs use it for that purpose
yeahhhhh....let's agree to disagree, thenWhere does it happen exactly? Somewhere in the game or @ booting the game?
