If it still crashes even then, the fault is likely with GYTB, which only fills out the minimum possible information to get the badges to appear, rather than trying to make all the fields valid. I'll try and do something like that.

In the meantime, badge shortcuts have been added. use them with the latest version by naming the badge badgename.TIDLow.png or badgename.TIDLow.anything.png
Is it only for system apps?

Badge Arcade badges can be recovered really easily at the help desk. For custom badges, you need an extdata backup.

@Crimsonova, here's a build I don't expect to fix your problem, but give it a try in case.

Oh. I don't even have Badge Arcade, lol, I just used the "give_you_budge.3dsx" and NNID retriever to add them, so I wouldn't know.

@herolarcio, no idea what's causing it, but you can try removing your theme, or removing all badges from the home menu before launching the homebrew, or the build linked above, and see if anything helps.

Very strange... I took out my SD card, put it back in, placed 4 badges, then restarted and the 4 badges stay, but it errors me again when the theme is loaded and I try to place another badge...

EDIT: Daheck? NOW it works. Restarting my 3DS again fixed the issue.

Hey you know what? That actually worked! I'm quite curious as to what the problem was this whole time! Thanks a bunch! :yaynds:
Presumably some part of the BadgeMngFile that I skipped filling out would caused a read from uninitialized memory, which would sometimes happen to work out by chance. e.g. it reads from badge set 0 despite badge set 0 not existing.

Pedro, look up the european PIDLow for the app you want, e.g. 00022000 for settings. Then name your image whatever.00022000.png

Everyone else, the download in the main post has been updated with improvements to overall system stability and other minor adjustments made to enhance the user experience. If you get errors on opening badge settings, try running the latest version. I'm also curious if the same changes that made things work for Crimson will do the same for firmwares below 9.5.

So it was reading from data that didn't exist on my system? That is interesting.

Do I need this version or am I good?

Did you do something about the overwriting of existing badges, by any chance ? :)
Not yet, and no guarantee I will in the future... there's various complications it would cause, e.g. you run it twice and end up with a duplicate of each badge. If anything, a way to automatically convert the badges you already have to PNGs might be easiest.
mrcheeze, can i make a ironfall badge shortcut?
I don't think it's possible.

The version in the OP is identical to yours, except without the extra empty black circle in the list of badge sets. You should probably grab it just to make sure that didn't somehow make it stop working again, though.
