Well good for you. It's not for us either, that doesn't mean it's not gonna be huge... That's horrible logic.
I think you're misunderstanding what I'm saying entirely.... sleep mode is a very minor thing in the future of this exploit. I'm looking forward to seeing all the things smea can pull off that you otherwise couldn't do without homebrew, like screenshots for example. I know this update is going to be huge. I'm just saying that the only 5 things we know 100% about this update is that its going to have 1.Sleep Mode 2.Screenshots 3. Use of Power button 4. r5 stuff 5. extra RAM access. and compared to the possibilities of what else could be awaiting us in this update (and future updates) those are hardly worth getting giddy over. I'm giddy over the other cool things that aren't yet possible.

Wow, I could not have said it better myself. Damn. :)
Thanks, M8!

Again, that's a feature that's expected to have been implemented. Screenshots were a hopeful wish until smea figured it out. Sleep mode isn't a new concept to me is what I'm saying. Personally, I don't play on my 3DS for any period of time that would require me to want to put it into sleep mode. If I'm done with my 3DS, or if I'm busy I turn it off. Therefore it doesn't tickle my fancy as much as everyone else. Plus I have a DSTWO and PSP to keep my homebrew needs met until the 3DS scene figures things out.
I can't speak to the DSTWO but after such a short amount of time (has it even been 2 months since ironhax?), I already consider homebrew on the (n)3DS better than my PSP. That is a remarkable achievement brought about by such a small number of awesome people.
I totally agree that the screenshot thing will be awesome but everyone uses their device in different ways so my only issue is when you scoff at people for being excited about something you don't care about.

You can do screen shots without homebrew. Just upload the screen shots to Miiverse and then save them to your computer. If fact, he probably just figured out how to trigger that function via homebrew.

He's just dumping the framebuffer contents into a bitmap. Unfortunately there will probably be no automatic png compression. I think he figured out jpeg compression, but nobody really wants that, so doubt he includes it.

I agree, it seems these exploits and everything have come out of nowhere. Which is why I'm super excited to see the things that the 3DS can pull off when the scene is a bit more refined and people discover more and more about the hardware and how to access it. Seeing all this progress so fast just made these features seem arbitrary to me considering what's to come down the road. And from the way things are going, what's coming is at full blast.

Probably so. But I hear it's not possible for some games like pokemon.

Well that's not happening anytime soon. This is. :)

Screenshots, sleep mode and higher RAM are nice but not terribly exciting to me in particular. :toot:

Though my interest might pique a bit more if/when we get a full feature list instead of teases as to what's to come on Twitter. Providing Smealum doesn't drop the ball again like last time and have to do Reddit damage-control because he delays and gives a vague reason as to why, that is.

Even if he delays, we'll have this way before a kernel hack. :)

Eh, wake me when there's a kernel exploit above 9.2.

Seriously though, this is pretty freaking important..

True. But he didn't give us a release date.

I recall "expect results by the end of the week", making a fuss about "my end of the week" being Sunday, announcing that he'd announce something unrelated to Ironhax on that Friday, heel-turning when Friday came and saying the announcement was cancelled because "something came up", damage-control on Reddit when nothing came about on Sunday but Ironfall being pulled from the eShop, then radio silence for several days afterward.

I'll have to comb through his Twitter to get more exact words, though, and my memory isn't to be trusted.

Also true. But, to be fair, "expect results by the end of the week" isn't really a release date.

Fair point, but I feel that if he'd thought it through a bit more he wouldn't have even hinted at releasing it on or around a certain time. Whether it was a concrete release date or not doesn't really matter as much as its being construed as one going by the prepubescent "WHERE MY PIRACY AT" fury he found waiting for him on Reddit.

Basically the time-honored maxim of "think before you post something on Twitter" is what I'm driving at.

Now this is an unnecessary fuss.

I mean, come on, if these features are not impressive in the field of 3DS homebrew why have we been waiting for so long?

More usable ram, sleep mode for convenience usability and a screenshot function that probably won't force us to be connected to internet and use a slowass software BEFORE going to our PC and downloading that same screenshot.

Also, about that, i was wondering. Would regionfive allow to load digital games or only cartridges?

Cartridges only, I assume. You can't even buy out of region eShop software anyway (I guess you could with a region-changed emuNAND or something, but if you have emuNAND, you don't need regionfive).

For me the biggest disadvantage to regionfree is that you can't access game updates/DLC from out of region eShops. For some games this isn't a problem but there's enough that being out of date causes you to miss out on a lot of things. Unfortunately I don't think this is something that can be fixed easily..
