that is the reader, in your link.im saying that any card adaptor should work since the is no chip inside, just circuit.

The Micro->SD adapter shouldn't matter.
In the end if you can't figure out how to install it, you can always contact @gamesquest1 who does the mod at a fair price.

One thing to note is some msd -> sd adapters have the pins on the opposite side of the shell which means the pins are reversed compared to what you will see in some guides

Just double check the keyed corner if it's on the opposite side compared to the diagram your following just mirror the connections

Any adapter will work since it's just an extension of the pins.

Hi i am a total noob in regards to the 3ds and i just today picked up my 1st nintendo console and im intrested in hacking my 3ds but there is a problem my firmware is 9.8.0 etc...

It came with that firmware when i bought it from a second hand store.

But i really am curious as to wheather or not one can play 3ds roms on this firmware? Is it possible to hack my 3ds?

You can only play 3ds games if you buy a Sky3ds. You cannot use cfw beyond 9.2 firmware.

You can use Ninjhax 2.1 with the Sky3ds or Cubic Ninja to play out of region games as well as homebrew.

A header is a code that every retail cartridge has that is used to identify the game when going online. If Nintendo sees a single header online across multiple 3DS' (A public header), that 3DS will be temp banned.
To get a private header, you'd need a 3DS on 9.2 or lower > Rip a retail cartridge to .3ds format > Extract the header from that rom.
Buy a private header from someone trusted online (can be risky), which usually costs about $10.

No, you're fine with games that were released that long ago.
Just a matter of writing them to the mSD using DiskWriter which you can also get from Sky3ds.com.
If you're not going to go online, you don't need to worry about headers.

do i need mad soldering skills for this or can i just use some adhesive/putty to latch the wires in place?
I mean, i have no problem soldering onto a microsd card adapter, but i have zero confidence in my soldering skills when it comes to boards as i'd like to avoid frying it.

i'm thinking, as long as the contact points are connected and doesn't detach or come off during the process, then it should be all right, right?

and yes, i have a nand backup from when my 3ds was on 8ish something something... then my son went out and updated and...here i am with a 9.9 fw 3ds.

yeah, already so that. he already had the wiring done, sooo... only useful for what to do next after the wiring thing.

i'm still weighing if its worth the risk of busting my 3ds just so i can say to myself that "hey! i did it!" coz thats the main reason i wanna downgrade. though it would be nice to go back down to a hackable firmware and get better emulators, i'm perfectly fine with a 9.9 + ironhax as the 3ds is just there for the 3d while my primary gaming handheld is my vita.

Don't be an idiot, solder the wires on there. If its too risky trusting your own hands just check locally for a "reputable" skilled Street Fighter who has mad soldering skills.

No you cant get ironhax without an official eshop version. Thats the whole point of it

The points are different for the XL, but it only works if you have a nand backup.
